This hotel is basic and is a strange mix of styles inside, but to be fair it seems good value locally and it does those basics fine.
My room and en-suite were functional and comfortable enough and food I tried in its bistro was good ... which is important as there's next to nothing else in the immediate vicinity. I also found the staff helpful enough.
The sights of central Aachen are about a 20 minute brisk walk away - no trouble if you don't mind a bit of a trek that's mildly uphill on the way back. Otherwise it's a short trip in the car or on the bus from the very nearby bus-stop.
Minor downsides were no free, or even fixed-rate, internet in the room - just the choice of using one computer in their 'bistro' cafe for free, or signing up to an expensive pay-by-time hotspot.
Second, there's only a handful of parking spaces by the road immediately outside the hotel, with the other option being parking in bays further up the street. This wasn't a big issue for me, but if you had a lot of clobber to unload, for example during a family trip, possible lack of stopping place outside the hotel would be an irritant.
I also find it penny-pinching when access to a simple buffet-style 'continental' breakfast isn't included in the price and subject to an unreasonable extra charge.
But overall this hotel was fine. While I would still shop around to find something better if heading to Aachen again, I wouldn't actively avoid it.
