The Dance Hall - A Sayles Ranch Home

Discover The Dance Hall, an exquisite Texas Urban Loft style space that once served as Dottie Botkin's Ballet Studio in the 1950s. Steeped in history, this sophisticated retreat was the hub where Abilene's dance legacy began. Immerse yourself in a refined ambiance where elegance and innovation converge.

This thoughtfully designed 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment features high ceilings and an open layout, seamlessly blending the allure of vintage charm with contemporary luxury.
The master bedroom with queen bed showcases a headboard crafted from the turquoise doors of a '57 Chevy pickup truck. The second bedroom, affectionately named "The Bunker," features built-in twin beds reminiscent of a ship's cabin, adding a unique and cozy touch to the loft

A captivating 30-foot wall is adorned with the backs of 200 meticulously chosen blue and turquoise books. Polished concrete floors, track lighting, and a kitchen counter backsplash adorned with 2,700 pennies add a touch of opulence to the space, sparking conversation and intrigue. Raw wooden beams, antique ceiling tin tiles, and silvery metal accents gracefully complement the exquisite turquoise and French blue color scheme, creating a harmonious visual feast.

Guests will have private access to the entire downstairs home. There is another Sayles Ranch Home (The Hayloft) located on the upper level that may be occupied at the time at your stay.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Great location
Only major complaint was being able to hear the guest upstairs walking around. Guess she works days....Both nights we stayed we could hear her walking around bw 3-5 am. There must not be any insulation bw floors. It did not bother me but woke my wife several times both nights. Other than that property fit our needs great. We had 2 adults a 16 year old and 9 year old. There is room for 1 more on the couch. Even with the noise upstairs we do plan on staying again. Our son just started ACU this year so hopefully we have many more trips coming up over the years. Thanks, Jeff T. Boerne, TX

Everyone’s 10/10 is different
Overall, the stay was pleasant. We expected a property rated a 10/10 to be immaculate. Everyone has different standards for 10/10, our standards are high. An external revamping is overdue. It was uninviting pulling into the driveway. Although it was Abilene, it’s still kind of an unsafe entrance. A landscaping/lawncare crew is definitely needed. The property is going for a thrifting aesthetic, I’m sure guests are into that but it does not give “clean”. I wipe down everything prior to using it and the dining table was not so clean, nor the benches. Also, the utensils were still dirty when I selected a fork to use. A bathroom remodel is overdue. The bathroom was not comfortable to use and quite cramped. I should not touch the toilet with my leg getting out of the shower. The towels need fabric softener too. Luckily I wake up early, I could hear every movement the construction workers that stayed upstairs made when they were preparing to leave for work. For the positives, the owners do reply to your messages and they reach out with very helpful information. Their communication is excellent. The only bugs we saw were the bugs that flew in with us when we opened the door. The area has no traffic and we could get everywhere within 10 minutes. Suggestions, white, bleachable linens are a must. Make the towels bleachable white also. Bathroom remodel needed (what about ADA accessibility?). A more inviting external remodel needed. Insulation is needed between the two apartments.

Really Cool Guest House
Property is 2 blocks of of Sayles Blvd in historic area. Central to anything you want to do in Abilene, especially downtown area. Parking is off street and on concrete slab. Once I walked in the door I just stopped"What a cute fun place to spend the weekend with friends!' Open concept kitchen, dining and living areas. 1 bedroom with nice queen bed and a 2 nd bdrm with 2 nice comfy twin beds . Kitchen is fully equipped and ice maker is working. One wall is decorated with old bool covers. Couch was comfy to watch bball game, with a quilt to cuddle under. Full size washer/dryer in side room. I t is a very comfortable place to stay for 2-4 people. I will stay there again, since I'm my Mother is in nursing home. Hostess was very prompt will replying to my messages.
