Central hotel
Great hotel, well situated. Service in the bar and restaurant could be better. Food not great - we ate in the restaurant one night and had lunch in the bar the next day and I wasn’t too impressed with the food or the time we had to wait for it to be served. But it’s a very comfortable (and expensive!) hotel.

When checking in to the hotel, the receptionist could not find my booking. I showed them the Expedia confirmation - but apparently they needed the hotel confirmation number which was not provided by Expedia. They asked for photo-ID, and still could not find the booking. Finally it was clear that despite clearly saying my name, and showing my photo id with my name on it, the receptionist was looking up the name incorrectly. My name is O'Donovan and the receptionist was looking up Donovan. I been asked for my surname, and replied O'Donovan, I was asked for my photo-id and it shows O'Donovan, I was asked for my first name , Andy. And still the receptionist was looking up Donovan - my first name does not begin with an 'O'.. The probem with all of this is that I was made to feel like I had made a mistake, either I wasn't who I said I was, or the booking was incorrect. One the booking was found, by another receptionist, there was no apology. Again, the receptionist's mistake was my fault. I did not feel welcome - I felt distrusted.. When a hotel of this quality cannot find a booking, they should first be checkign the have understood the right name.... instead, I got unwelcome distrust. My response - there are many other hotels in Edinburgh.

We stayed 5 nights in Edinburgh recently and hotel hopped for fun. The Sheraton was the best hotel overall. Better than others such as the Radisson Blu! We’ll be back next year.

The property is great, very clean and comfortable bed. Though we didn't get a nicer view outside as requested, the staffs were all nice and attentive. We had a little issue with the shower door not closing shut and causing a little puddle on the bathroom floor everytime we shower it was not the staffs fault but rather a maintenance issue. We had access to their club lounge but the breakfast menu was the same for all the days we stayed there. It was great but i think people would appreciate more if they put a little variety on their menu. They do have a restaurant available on the site for full service. The city is very walkable and a warm bath at the end of the day is very relaxing! Great Hotel!

Over night at the Sheraton Grand
Our stay was perfect as we were attending a concert across the road in the Usher Hall on the Wednesday evening. Followed by drinks back at the hotel. The next day the hotel held our bags until we explored Dean Village. Fantastic👍

Good size room, lovely bathroom with separate shower and free use of safe .. very clean and cleaned everyday and the room was perfect temperature never felt too cold or too hot and bed was so comfortable too
