Fixtures falling apart, toilet paper was more than half used, room wasn’t properly cleaned, curtains were busted. The only thing that made up for the stay was the friendly staff.
Our rooms were very old and outdated. Nothing like photos. Basically like putting lipstick on a pig. This was a run down nasty hotel. We didn't sleep well. It was false advertisement. Thwy thwre a paint job on old run down nasty hotel. Very disappointed
The property is more outdated than pictures show. Our room smelled bad and the carpet was so dark and worn, its hard to tell if it was clean. Their was a large gun show going on that we didn't know about. We would have stayed somewhere else if we knew.
The lobby and indoor pool area was very nice, the restaurant attached was very good, but they are in the middle of a remodel and it needs it. The staff were great.
I’m not sure when/where the pictures they posted were taken but they were nowhere near an accurate representation of the hotel. It was NOT good! First of all, we weren’t sure we were in the right place as all the signs were for Westerner Extended Stay instead of Cactus Cove. When we went inside everything was dark and dank, old and worn. It looks like they tried to fix it up with very little money and mostly paint. But the paint is all peeling now and the pool shown has apparently been closed. ?? We couldn’t find it anywhere. Instead there was a strange area in the middle with a fountain, lots of fake plants and dozens of folding tables. There were lots of damaged or broken items around, inside annd out, including all of the exterior staircases. The beds were so bouncy and uncomfortable. You could choose to either hang off the side or lay in a pile in the middle with your bed partner but you could NOT choose not to have a backache in the morning. The carpet was damp and there was a strong perfume smell that has obviously been sprayed to cover the wet and other bad smells. Other reviewers have mentioned bad internet but we didn’t experience that. We got in super late though (2am) so maybe that’s why. We left early and without eating breakfast. The thought of what they might serve gave me the heebies. I was thrilled to have found a cute, decent place to spend the night at a reasonable price but the joke was on me. Don’t make the same mistake.
I think this hotel was great. Staff was kind and pet friendly! I wish I had more time to explore and take advantage of all the amenities they offer. My one complaint would be how humid it got during our stay. Aside from that, I'd use this hotel if I were to pass by Amarillo again.
The property is unique and you can tell they have tried to update from the original condition of an old motel, but the pictures are deceptive. At check in, I noticed there were several people with large dogs inside the hotel, that should’ve been a red flag. The smell in our room was overwhelming with what seemed like an entire spray can of air freshener trying to mask the dank odor in the room. The floor was sticky and the doors for the room were French type so it was very noisy. With the pool and people that were drunk from the bar. The most annoying thing was that all of the tvs in the rooms of the hotel stream from one modem, which means, the internet did not work so we were not able to watch tv at all. The front desk told me that they reset the modem and when that didn’t work they said the only thing they could do was have me unplug the tv and plug it back in. Obviously that does not fix the internet. So we didn’t have tv, which made the noise outside the door even more annoying. We heard a load crash after midnight and then an ambulance, fire truck and police cars showed up because someone apparently fell through the outdoor stairs that were taped off and crumbling. The hotel needs maintenance and upgrades for both customer safety and comfort.
