Pretty average stay overall, although not bad value for money. Their chef had just left while I was staying, so hopefully once that's addressed the standard of tood will improve.
Staff were very polite and friendly.
The staff were so nice and helpful, Clare was great happy to help and always had a smile on her face. The room was clean, tidy and warm. Easy to park. Unfortunately a lot of things were not available on the menu in the evening, which was very disappointing. You could hear other guests going to there rooms, this did wake me with a jump

Disliked: Room comfort
Noisy
The room was small and so noisy that I hardly slept. There’s some type of compressor or something outside which is very noisy and sounds like it is in the room.
They were short of staff so both meals we had there were a disappointment in terms of the food and service.
We checked in and for £116 B&B it was quite basic. But the real problem became clear when the fire alarm went off at 1.30am. All guests vacated the property expecting a member of staff to appear to take charge. There was no memer of staff onsite which if we'd been informed of this and given contact details that would have been fine. there were no fire notices anywhere and no contact number for emergencies. We rang 999 and 2 fire engines turned up. They tried to track down any fire but couldn't access the pub part of the building and despite online searches couldn't find a contact for a keyholder. we gave them our keys to the guest side of the property and they found no fire on that side but found a staff bedroom with no staff but a set of keys to the pub side. No fire there but no way to turn off the fire alarm. After an hour a local member of the public tried to help, went to a staff member's house but couldn't raise them. After 2 hours a staff member was found and at 3,30am we went back to bed. In the morning the staff apologised and said their boss was coming out to the pub as he had an appointment with the fire safety officer.
Disappointed with the room. The bathroom had what appeared to be damp, paint was falling off while we were there and water marks everywhere in the bathroom. It was also very noisy so our little girl did not get to sleep till after midnight. The room was in a poor state. I would not stay again and think it is very expensive for what you get.
The check in was very good showed to my room which I was reasonable at the time
On further investigation the bathroom looked like it had rained in with plaster coming off the wall and dust on the toilet top, there was dust under the bed legs indicating that the bed had not been moved
On top of that there was a constant hum comming from the extractor fans, and the beat of music comming from the bar below the bed room, the food was poor to say the least, breakfast was a joke it was just about warm and the egg if I had thrown it against the wall it would have bounced back
Lovely place to stay. Good accommodation and friendly staff. Food was great both at breakfast and in the evening.
Amble is a good central place to stay.
Enjoyed our stay at the Wellwood. The only criticism I have is that the floorboards in all the rooms are quite noisy. Therefore you can hear other guests moving around. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food both at breakfast and in the evenings was very good. Shower was excellent.
