Basement rooms are a bad choice

Basement rooms are inhuman,, room is very small that it is a hard job to reach the other side of the bed .. zero sound proof .. you can hear clearly the sound of urination of the guests in the upper room and then sound of flushing the toilet.. beside noise in the street as there is a small window at ground level with no sound proof glass .. bed is not bad but not suitable for persons longer than 180 cm .. housekeeping is OK .. and location also is good

An inadequate double room

Saw little of the staff. They were helpful when approached. Our double room would have been inadequate for one person alone. The bathroom was minute - you could sit on the loo & have a shower at the same time. They had changed our booking from a twin to a double but without telling us of the limitations of the room they’d given us.

This is the 4th time I’ve stayed at The Alfred and will definitely be back again. The staff are great, the rooms are good sized and modern (also thanks for the free upgrade last time!). Conveniently located in a quiet area but great transport links to the museums/centre and walkable to De Pijp and very close to Vondelpark.

Decent hotel in quiet neighbourhood

Good quiet location a short walk away from a tram stop. The neighbourhood felt safe and quiet. The room was basic but comfortable and clean and there was an in room fridge which was a bonus.

Super neighborhood and excellent location

We stayed 2 nights here with family , it’s in a nice neighborhood . Lot of food options around, the Albert’s super store is just around the corner. Buy a day tram pass if you are in the city for atleast a single day, it’s worth it. The city/amsterdam central is just 10 minutes by tram. Wander through the streets and get lost in the city. The night views and food options are fantabulous. Sorry we were there just 2 nights, should have stayed more.

Mediocre at best

So so hotel. Very beautiful from the outside and in a great location. Unfortunately, the hotel is dated and needs a good clean. Carpets etc are just old. Elevator is slow and seems to have a mind of its own. Staff were fine. Neither rude nor friendly. Bed was not uncomfortable but there was a divot and you could tell was worn from use. Bathroom is poorly laid out with the shower directly spraying water into the toilet area which will inevitably get everything wet. Room isn’t tiny - plenty of space and includes a closet. No usb outlets etc. pretty basic interior.

Basement bait and switch

Caution, if you book a regular room you may be given a windowless basement room without warning or compensation. Mechanical sounds throughout the night and sewer aromas are also possible.
