I know this is a hard time for many people that depend on tourism, so I want to be gentle in my response. There are some things I think could be improved in your vacation rental.
• Make sure to make contact with your guest at a minimum of 24 hours in advance to let them know how to check in.
• A good clean air freshener is essential when someone walks into a space. The sheets smelled clean on the beds in both bedrooms, but the overall house had an old smell about it. Also, the extra sheets in the closet had several strands of long brown hair on them.
• I know bathrooms are expensive to update, but for the price per night, I expected it to look better. Plus we could only find 4 towels that were not quite white. ( We should have had five, after all we had to pay extra for our fifth person.) There is only one hook for towels and wash cloths in the bathroom. The blue light in the fan is also a little weird. There was one roll of toilet paper in the whole house.
• It was a little frustrating that the listing advertises three bedrooms, but what is considered the third bedroom has no doors and is actually listed as the study.
• For the price, the mattresses need to be better. In the front bedroom the mattress sinks in so much in the middle, my husband and I kept sliding into the middle all night. The bedroom windows also need blackout curtains. It’s Alaska in the summer.
• If you’d like your guests to take their shoes off in the house, you need rugs that fit each room.
• The sprayer in the kitchen sink did not work and there was no coffee grinder as listed.
• If the bathroom, mattresses, and scent were all fixed there would be little need for better decorations. However, the decorations look like a hodge podge of styles and don’t make your place look nicer. All the white covers on the dining room chairs appear dirty. A different color would hide stains. if we had paid less for the listing I would not have an issue, but we could have stayed at a new three star hotel and rented two rooms for the price we paid. My goal in renting was to put money directly in the pocket of Alaskan families though, not a big business. My hope is that you take this as constructive comments. My first instinct was to give less stars, but my intention is not to hurt but help, so I will give you three stars and wish you the best for the future.
