After reading the travelor reviews prior to our trip my girlfriend and I had much higher expectations. We were there for a wedding, so we didn't have much say in where our vacation would be, but both of us were excited for our first trips to Jamaica. The first room we were brought to was in pretty tough shape. It clearly had not been updated in years, with very old furniture, beds, blankets, and bathroom. It also had an intolerable smell, some sort of mix between cleaning solution and mold / must. The staff was very accomodating in moving us to a new room on the other side of the resort, which had less of a smell and had been updated. Unfortunately we still were not comfortable with the bad, as the blankets on our bed had noticeable stains on them. Once again we called and the staff was helpful in getting room service to change our bedding. After finally setting in to our room we were able to explore. The resort has a friendly staff, decent pool, and lots of activities going on. The food varied at each of the on-site restaurants (although one was not ever open during our stay), but was just okay by our estimation, and reservations were difficult at times. I am used to staying at upscale properties and wouldn't put Breezes anywhere near the category of a Westin or Riu let alone a Ritz or Four Seasons. I understand that Breezes isn't in the same price category as the aforementioned elite hotels, but with 4.5 stars it is ranked in the same category on this site...so keep that in mind when you look to book your trip. Hopefully this helps you not make the same mistake we did, happy travels.
