Was convenient to Eden park for concert
Unfortunately black mould was found on 2 pillow slips
Reception staff exchanged pillow cases when asked to replace
This should never happen in any hotel
Small rooms but they are nicely appointed. Has lots of indoor and outdoor shared space. Indoor space has several rooms with cozy sofas and chairs and electric fireplace. Outdoor space has lots of tables and chairs and strings of lights overhead.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews however I felt after dwelling on my experience this was worth noting. I stayed at the Abstract Hotel for the recent Coldplay concert for 1 night. This was my second time staying here so I had high expectations that my short stay would be great again. Staff at reception during my first stay mentioned they would note I would be staying with them again, however the expectations were not met. My check in experience was very poor due to the lack of support I received due to being told we had too many guests for our room. There was 4 of us at check in, but was told only two of us could stay. I had booked a 1 bedroom apartment, from photos I believed it would not be an issue (two would stay in the lounge and two in the bed. These are two separate rooms) The way the receptionist bluntly told us this was not allowed due to policy that was not known was quite upsetting. With reason I tried to explain our situation (coming from out of town for the concert, so we’re all very tired from the travel, other accomodation booked out) the employee did not offer any solution or alternative to our problem and was overall not helpful. I left reception quite visibly upset and what seemed to be no remorse from the employee, my friends that were with us had no place to stay for 1 night!! and were forced to sleep in the car. This is not a reflection on the hotel itself however the employee we dealt with left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall I will not be returning.
This hotel is very up to date with some features I haven't seen before. There is art thru out the hotel with some eclectic pieces. The front desk crew are all really friendly and helpful. We had a small issue with our room, and they took care of it immediately. The winter garden is really attractive and has a beautiful fireplace. There's a cute little bar with a great bartender.
Brand new hotel with some great features however even our one bedroom apartment was small. Rooms are painted black so very dark inside. The bed is a double bed, comfy but if you like a big bed, then look elsewhere. No aircon so factor that with the time of the year. Very small widows to open plus a fan and a panel heater to help. Parking available in nearby Wilson building for $35.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The car park rates are not mentioned when you do booking that was bit of downside for us. Apart from that it was really nice
Location is great for me. K road is a bit skeevy. But always something going on. Close to the comedy clubs and Q theatre on Queen Street. A few good parking options overnight.
Staff are great. Rooms are decent. Dining and bar is actually really nice, I recommend.

Rooms were tiny, no air conditioning and I couldn’t buy bottled water anywhere. Only option for breakfast was a $30 buffet, and couldn’t just buy some eggs on toast.
