Still under major renovations, mountain view room overlooking construction and a roof. Girl who we spoke to first was very vague and not very hospitable, very loud hallways that echo in the room, construction everywhere. Evening staff much more attentive, beautiful lobby, free parking is wonderful.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by receptionist from Czech Republic. Very efficient, friendly and informative. Helped my son and I access ski lockers.
Room was excellent and all we required for this ski trip.
Free Ski shuttle buses run to Sunshine, Lake Louise and Norquay, just 50m from the hotel reception.
The restaurant is an absolute marvel. The quality of the food is outrageous. Highly recommend eating hear, even if you are not a guest at this hotel. Boar chop is a masterpiece. The Rib eye steak for 2 is without a doubt, the best steak I have eaten anywhere on the planet. I can't find words to do this meal justice. The servers and Chef are so knowledgeable about their menu and you can see the passion this young team has for food and service to their customers.
It was an absolute pleasure to stay at The Otter Hotel Banff.
Thank you for such a warm friendly stay.
Awesome hotel! not sure if they always have it running, but the heat was up to like 30 degrees in the hallways when I was there. Only gripe. other than that, awesome stay :) would stay again.
It was nice when I checked in and they asked my what kind of coffee or tea I like to take to my room and pack you a cute little bag. I also appreciated the dog treats and the toy for my dog. There was a bed, water/food bowl and poo bags in the room provided. The room was really nice, quiet and I loved the dual head shower. It will be even better when the pool/tubs open up at this hotel.
Great hotel, unfortunately the hot pool was not open as it was under construction. Hotel staff were friendly, amazing host in the kitchen I believe his name was Adam! Highly recommend having a bite to eat if you stay here or are in Banff.
Loved our stay at the Otter. The staff was great. Restaurant attached was top notch. The hot pools weren’t open yet but it was a nice touch that we could use the ones at the hotel beside it. Only complaint was the bed wasn’t as comfortable as I liked and the halls and elevator were extremely hot. I would stay again despite this because everything else made up for it.
This property was well re-designed but the heating made it that we didn’t sleep for our entire stay. 4nights straight. You set it a a temp and it auto resets to a different temp every few hours. When it starts and runs it is extremely load. The bed is also right up against it and blows directly into you.
Because we didn’t sleep I would never stay here again. The hot tub is also in the next door hotel so it’s a maze to get to. Sauna not working the entire 5 days.
The aesthetics of the hotel are beautiful. The hot tubs weren’t open yet but they look like they will be great. We didn’t get a chance to dine at their restaurant but it too looked very nice.
Cons: the heater in the room is situated right beside the bed. So every time it kicked in during the night, hot or cold air would be blowing right in your face. The thermostat only had an auto or off setting so no way to adjust the fan. Made for a very restless sleep.
The door stop for the main door is nearly in the middle of the sliding bathroom door. We stubbed our toes so many times, we finally put a shoe over the door stop.
The mountain view is actually only a partial mountain view because of the high rooftops.
The nightly price was fine but I’m not sold on staying here again mainly because of the heater - too much flip flopping throughout the night trying to avoid the fan.
Our stay at the Otter Hotel in Banff was nothing short of exceptional! The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable, and every corner of the property reflected the care and attention to detail they put into maintaining a welcoming environment. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, offering a cozy yet luxurious vibe that made us feel right at home.
The staff deserves a special mention—they were classy, polite, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. The room we were assigned had a breathtaking, picture-perfect view of the mountains, making every morning feel magical.
Another highlight is that the hotel is pet-friendly, which made it even more special for us as we could bring our furry friend along for the adventure. The overall experience was like staying in a high-end boutique hotel, without feeling overly formal or inaccessible.
We loved every moment of our stay and will definitely be returning! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Banff.
We had an amazing stay despite the lack of reviews and construction around the property. Rooms were extremely clean and common areas were nice and brand new. Our favourite part was the pour over coffee in the rooms and access to the sister hotel hot pools while the hot pools at our hotel was still under construction. Would 10/10 stay here again!
Great hotel just as you enter Banff. Rooms were very clean. Pool not quite open but was able to use their sister hotel pool, hotel canoe. Can’t wait to head back and stay again.
