Very well-run hostal in a great location. Our room was one of several (4 or 5?) on the 3rd (to Europeans) floor of an older building. The rooms have been completely renovated, and are clean and comfortable, with a neutral modern IKEA-style decor. There's a common kitchen are for all the rooms on the floor, which is very nice. The hostal staff are helpful, and seem to comprehend many languages. There is a large and beautiful back patio on the entrance (mezzanine) level of the hostal. The location could not be better. Carrer Roger de Luria is in the heart of Eixample, but within a ten minute walk of the Barrio Gotico. There are many very pleasant cafes and restaurants in the neigbourhood, which we found much more comfortable and quiet than the Barrio. And the facades of the buildings in the area are stunning modernista masterpieces.
The elevator is quaint (and small), but we found that using the stairs helped (a little) to compensate for all the pastry we were consuming in the neighbourhood bakeries.
Given Barcelona accommodation prices, Hostal Colkida is a great choice for people who need cleanliness and comfort, but don't want to pay for a 3-star hotel.
