Bright modern hotel, large and quiet room. Negatives - no coffee machine or kettle in room (hot drinks £6 each in 24-hr hotel bar!); no dedicated breakfast area, food eaten at whatever seating in lounge you could find (very busy at certain times), fairly basic food selection. Room safe too small to take laptop - the thing I most wanted to keep safe!

Very nice modern hotel in a great location in old town. Couldn’t be better for finding restaurants museums shopping etc. Breakfast was very good and nice large lobby to breakfast and relax in. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room decent size for Europe. Could have used 2nd chair in room

Perfect hotel in the heart of the Christmas market. Check in was a breeze. We booked a room with terrace and enjoyed a wonderful view of the Mather square and downtown. Free tram tickets allowed us easy travel back to the train station. Highly recommend! Lobby is a bar/restaurant, very inviting.

Great room, great location, great service. Only downgrade was that they wouldn’t allow us to eat in the lobby. We had to take food to our room, which was more weird than inconvenience. I understand them wanting to upsell their own food, but it’s common area to the hotel, so it really cheapened an otherwise good stay.

The hotel was in an excellent location to explore Basel and access public transport. If you are attending the conference centre but want to stay centrally, the tram stop is less than a minute's walk with frequent direct trams. The staff were lovely and the room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean and prime location
Overall a very clean and prime located property. Stylish decor and friendly staff. Modest breakfast. Only thing I didn’t like is that my room windows were opening towards an apartment building. There was only a darkening curtain. Which means either be visible to everyone or no view at all.

Great location but not easy to drive to as there are a lot of pedestrian only streets near the hotel. Parking is at the art museum garage a few minutes away. About 30 CHF per day. Hotel was great and modern with a bar in the lobby. Staff was nice.

Location, Location, Location
Tram stop right outside, cafe below, coop market around the corner, bars and restaurants across the street, 2 blocks from the cathedral, extensive shopping within 1 block, just a great location. Stayed her a night before the river cruise and it was an excursion in itself. Noon check out so we had the morning to explore, then took the tram down to the dock - careful, be sure you have the right embankment dock for your particular boat…tram also took us straight from train to hotel. It would be good for Motel One to list easily which Tram to take from station to stopping point, etc., send in a pre arrival email, because it was SO easy and convenient. Not easy with big luggage to get in the doors up the stairs and across the cobblestone courtyard so be aware. Room was small but well equipped, clean, comfy and quiet. Everything is pre pay so no hassle on the way out with bills. Bartender 24 hours/day and attentive. Meeting space with friends on the first floor meant quiet upstairs for the rooms. Just a fantastic pre our post cruise hotel - highly recommend.
