The grounds are beautiful; the rooms are lovely; and the place is worth staying in if you get a good deal. That being said, we had a terrible dinner in the restaurant -- the service there was fine; it was the food that was really awful. Everything seemed to be room temperature and flavorless. The fish was some of the worst I've ever had. The lemon tart was undercooked, so much that you could still taste the yolk overtly. Whatever you do, skip dining here, and go into the little neighboring town; I promise you'll be better off.
The thing that really impacted our stay for the negative was our checkout experience. Upon reviewing the bill, we saw that we had been charged for breakfast even though the woman who checked us in the night before told us we had booked a room with breakfast included. She said so specifically. As I asked about this -- in the middle of discussing it in fact -- the woman swiped my credit card and ran the bill!!! While we were still talking it over! She did not apologize that the woman yesterday had told us the wrong thing; she only said that one does not get breakfast when booking through Hotels.com. I suggested she make sure the rest of the staff knows that, so they don't misinform more guests upon check-in. After the terrible dinner we definitely would not have spent nearly 30 Euro on cereal, bad croissants, and a cup of yogurt. Terrible, terrible, terrible. They really should have adjusted the bill. Instead, they get a terrible review.
