The property and my stay was fine, but I am so disappointed by the $75 pet fee for my 8# chihuahua. My room was $117 and pet $75. That is ridiculous! It should only be $25, TOPS! They take your credit card for essentials or damage, so why rob me with a gross pet fee??? Although the property, room and breakfast were fine, I will not stay here and get raped by a pet fee.

The service was okay, but the facility condition needs to be improved. The carpet was old and the bathroom smelled like urine in the room.

We were in Birmingham for a medical appt. and booked at Hyatt Placed based on proximity to UAB and positive reviews/pics online. Upon arrival we checked in to a standard double bed room which we had booked through Expedia. Upon entering the room - the carpet was stained, stains on furniture and bathroom floor had bugs. We immediately went to front desk to advise we were not staying and asked for a refund. The front desk person did not ask why I wanted to check out nor seem concerned. I was told that since I booked through a 3rd party I would have to contact Expedia directly but was certain "I would not be refunded". I did reach out to Expedia and explained my dissatisfaction and explained the facility did not match the reviews online. They said they would reach out to hotel directly and get back with me. I received an email communication back from them stating the General Manager at Hyatt denied my request. I tried calling the GM back directly and when they asked my name, I was told "they were on another call". I do understand a no refund policy due to a "no show", but to deny someone a refund based on my legitimate complaint is terrible business practice.

Broken toilet and dirty room
Upon entering the room, we noticed a table was sticky like it had not been cleaned. Then we tried using the restroom and the handle to the toilet was completely broken and wouldn’t flush at all. One of the beds had dirty sheets and a dirty pillowcase. I went to the front desk and asked to switch rooms but they were sold out for the night and had no other room available. The manager was incredibly apologetic and refunded the room. Overall, the service was great but I would never stay in this hotel again.

Don't advertise an outdoor pool and then close it when it's still 90 degrees outside. Very disappointing for the kids. Hotel needs updating and more seating for breakfast

The toilet didn’t flush, was told no one was there to fix it, then told my husband we get a plunger then after 15 mins of searching they couldn’t find one, the beds headboard was falling.
