Bright and airy penthouse apartment located directly above the roman amphitheatre in Cadiz´s most historic part, El Populo, comes with large private terrace with direct views of the millenium old cathedral, and a lovely Jacuzzi to cool down into after a days sightseeing.
The light and comfortable apartment benefits from 2 bedrooms with double beds, and a bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen and open plan living room provide access to the wonderful private terrace of 35m2, where there is plenty of space to dine, sit, relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the Cathedral, especially at night, when it is lit up. In summer, the sun sets directly behind it, and provides a romantic setting for a lovely dinner on the terrace.
The Jacuzzi is a delight to come back to after a day out, and has a relaxing fountain feature with chromatherapy (light therapy), which eases away any stress and tension in the body.
Walk through the cobbled streets of El Populo, and you will be taken back in time, when roman emperors ruled the city. Situated between the famous Arco del Populo, Arco de los Blancos and the Arco de la Rosa, there are many quaint bars, restaurants and café´s in which to sit and relax and ponder on the every day life of the citizens and nobility that inhabited the area over time.
Beside the apartment lies the entrance to the museum and roman theatre, where model reconstructions of the full amphitheatre can be appreciated. Walk through the long arched oyster stone tunnels, where musicians, artists and performers would have made their way to the stage. You can also sit on the steps and admire the view that the spectators would have had of the performers on stage.
100metres away is the millenium old cathedral, the most historical symbol of Cadiz, where in the square today´s concerts and local performers can be seen on a regular basis. You can climb upto the watch tower and be amazed by the breathtaking views. Within 400m of the apartment is the beautiful Cortadura beach, stretching 4km down to the Playa Victoria beach. At a similar distance is the Castle of Santa Catalina and the Playa Caleta beach.

Expected more for premium price
Checkin person did not speak English, nor did she show us the property - just handed us the keys and walked away. Common area was not very clean. Apartment itself was lovely. Hot tub was not working when we arrived, water was low, cold and not clean. Followed the supplied written instructions to add water and turn on the heat and the cleaner. Hot tub leaked and reported it to owner who immediately replied. The hot tub was an issue throughout the whole stay there. Kind of ruined what otherwise was a wonderful stay. I felt she should have offered some kind of a discount or refund for the trouble/lack of hot tub for which we paid the premium price.

Wunderbare Unterkunft in der Altstadt
Unser Aufenthalt war perfekt. Die Lage direkt in der Altstadt könnte nicht besser sein. Trotzdem war es sehr ruhig. An den Wochenenden hört man die Gäste in der Bar von gegenüber, die auf der Straße sitzen, was uns aber zu keiner Zeit gestört hat, da nach Schließen des Fensters alles ruhig war. Die Wohnung ist noch besser als auf den Fotos; offensichtlich wurde u.a. eine neue Küchenzeile eingebaut. Aufgrund der guten Lage ist ein Auto nicht zwingend notwendig. Wenn man dennoch ein Auto parken möchte, ist dies im Parkhaus Canalejas gut aufgehoben - Empehlung: Die Parking App (P-App) vor Enfahrt in das Parkhaus installieren und dort eine Mehrtagesmiete mit Multi-Entry buchen.
