Overall, I give this 5 stars for the property and staff, but 2 stars for the dining.
I was pleasantly surprised about how nice this property is. The staff is exceptionally friendly, there is heated underground parking on site, and there is a bar and restaurant on site. The area around the hotel is so-so. It’s conveniently located, but there isn’t much immediately around the hotel except for a Tim Horton’s right next door for grabbing coffee and breakfast. I found the property to be well-maintained, clean, quiet, and comfortable.
The hotel dining is where the place really falls flat. As is the case with any hotel dining, the food prices are at a premium. I don’t expect high-end gourmet food in a hotel restaurant, but this food wasn’t especially impressive, especially for the price. For example, I ordered a steak sandwich and it was decent, but the meat was lukewarm and the flavor was fairly bland. The next day I ordered the seafood pasta for lunch and was disappointed with the quality. The shrimp were overcooked and chewy, but worse, the tails were left on. Normally I wouldn’t care, but you have to reach into your pasta and sauce to get the tails off. Also, the menu advertised the dish as having scallops. I am 100 percent certain they were not actual scallops, rather they were some sort of very strong flavored fish cut into little circles trying to mimic scallops. Very disappointing.
All that said, I would stay here again, but temper my dining expectations.
