Property was clean and fairly well maintained. The beach and views were pretty but beach was un-swimmable during our stay during the last week of October and had red flags out the entire week, which was disappointing but no one can control Mother Nature. The food was ok, a few stand outs but pretty mediocre. The service was extremely slow though and having to give them your room card for every little thing and then waiting forever to get it back was extremely annoying and time consuming. Multiple elevators were also out of order and they were extremely small so wait times for the elevators were really long a lot of the time. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful but they need more. Don’t expect a lot of entertainment. It would really be nice if they had a few more night time activities. Nothing really to do but sit at the sports bar or go to karaoke which was never well attended unless it was at the sports bar, and then it was overcrowded and you couldn’t find anywhere to sit. Overall we enjoyed our week with our family but will definitely try a different resort next time.

Upon arrival were greeted by the concierge “Alfonso” which he escorted us to our room. We ask him to make restaurant reservations for us and he said he would (but never did) then proceeded to want us to go through a timeshare meeting with him which we refused because we have been through them before. We always stay at the Royal Resorts when we go to Mexico and have been through the meetings before. That is our biggest issues with the Royal timeshare sales. The food was decent. Service around the pool and beach was great. Will continue to visit the Royals but will opt for the Haciendas and Grand residents

The people who work in the bar on the east side of the hotel i cant remeber the name of it but bunch of great people working on that side will be going back in the future enjoyed the resort, only thing i can complain about is there was only 1 pool bar open but oyher then that great place to spend a vacation!

Everything about the Royal Sands was AMAZING! Starting off with the best staff. We did not encounter one rude staff member, they were all so incredibly kind and helpful. Miguel and Mario at the pool bar made my whole trip! They made me feel special on my birthday! You can tell each worker here loves their job. Our rooms cleanliness was amazing along with the rest of the resort. The food was very good. The beach was amazing and clean. We didn’t have any issues finding beach chairs. Overall everything was amazing and when i come back to Cancun i will be staying with the Royal Sands again!

My stay was very pleasant, effortlessly checked in early by Nahomi to being escorted to my room without a sales pitch. Lots of choices for food and entertainment. The property is within walking distance to shop's. Highly recommend.

We were long time owners at their sister resort and were optimistic about our stay at the Sands. Unfortunately it suffered during recent hurricanes, which resulted in multiple maintenance issues. The water park was also closed all week. It was also our first time having to do AI, and the dining options were limited. Reservations at the nicer options were limited for non-owners (we could only reserve same day, which meant there were no openings left). Several days of rain contributed to certain options not being available (e.g., sushi, char hut, etc.). We ended up paying to eat off-site and ordered in from the pizza place not covered by AI. Our only attempt at room service ended up taking over two hours, in part because they claimed we weren't there the first time they tried to deliver. We were waiting on the room the whole time. Had we not called to complain about the wait, I don't think they would have come at all. Most of the staff are wonderful and always have been, but it didn't meet expectations. Too few working meant long waits in between service at the pool and beach. Order more drinks than you need because you don't know how long it will be before they return. And be warned that beer options are limited for AI. For the price, we'd only return if we can rent directly from an owner - and forego AI. In bad weather, you have no option to order drinks during the day. We ended up having to buy our own at the market, which totally defeated the point of having AI.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we didn't leave the property, but had everything we needed right there. Our 2 year old especially appreciated the kids game room with the ball pit. Room service was also very convenient and helped us whwn our kiddo was not in a mood for outings.

The service on the beach was terrible. We had one person ask us one day for beverages and then never saw him again, had to go get a new card from the front desk. We had another person ask another day and ask for the card right back. Other than that, no one asked. The wait staff in La Veranda was bad. We had several instances of them asking what we wanted to drink and then never saw them again until we asked for our card back. I would strongly suggest figuring out a better system that doesn’t require handing over a room key, that’s very annoying from a guest point of view. The grounds were very well kept, towel service was great. Room service was great.
