Excellent check-in, we were two hours early! Just after check-in, I received a text letting me know that the room was ready, but we'd just chanced it!
Lovely room, very comfortable bed.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Stayed in room 521, very clean hotel however due to the wind, something kept banging outside (window, door?). We didnt go to the pool or wasnt asked about leisure facilities at reception. Heard it was 30 pound to use pool therefore we will never pay that.
The building and room are beautiful. The bed was nice and firm. However, one day prior to arriving, I received an email stating that no parking or even bag disposal at the hotel entrance was possible. The email did not include any other parking information. We parked in a city garage two blocks away and walked with our heavy luggage to the hotel entrance. Several steps led up to reception but no help was provided. At reception we asked about parking and were told the lot where we parked is prone to break ins by the homeless who squat there at night. We were directed to another lot. So we moved the car. All of this took place in the rain. We’ve traveled abroad for more than 20 years and have NEVER encountered a hotel that did not even allow for dropping off bags/have employees to help us to our room (up another several stairs). The experience severely impacted our opinion of this hotel - not in a positive way.
Excellent location. There appeared to be a gym as well as a spa. The Principality Stadium (Cardiff Arms Park in old money) is literally across the road. In fact I was told Welsh Rugby Union own the hotel.
Lovely old shopping arcades close by as well as plenty of shops. Numerous restaurants too.
The only downside to the hotel is there is no parking. The nearest NCP (3 mins walk) charges £32 for 24 hours!!!
Beautfiul Hotel! Located perfectly for Central Cardiff. The room was spacious, clean and decorated to a high standard, the toiletries and bathrobes were a lovely touch. One and only issue was we did order room Service for 11:30, got the email confirmation saying it would be there within 45mins. We waited up until 1am, but nothing ever showed up, so that was a shame.
Check in was excellent the room was ready when we arrived early. Located in the centre of the city. Easy walking to the castle, bars and restaurants. Staff were friendly. We stopped midweek so it was quiet outside. Not sure how it would be at weekend. I’ve knocked a point off due to the breakfast room running out of food on the second morning.
Compared to other similar standard hotels the check in was very poor. It was quiet, it was a Sunday and the staff were preoccupied as we stood there. We had booked spa treatments which they knew and were using the pool prior to check in time. But they still insisted we got dressed from having had our spa treatments and using the pool, and go back down six floors before we could access our room. If they offer treatments and use of the hydro pol before 3pm they should allow you to check in so you don’t have to get dressed after a day of relaxing. That is the whole point of a “spa experience” The treatments and use of the hydro pool is expensive and the suite we booked very expensive for one night but we won’t be going back.
