The welcome on arrival was the best. Freshly made coffee, orange juice and cakes of all kinds were served before the checking in. It is a lovely house, in a residential area; relatively quiet than mid-town, but the place and the neighbours had dogs. Their two dogs were lovely and friendly but were heard barking one night, in the early hours and the neighbours dogs barking woke us on other nights.
The breakfast was good. He had cakes, juices jams on the table but no bread. If you asked, he came with toast bread (Italy!) and even eggs and cheese.
The room was lovely with a door leading to a terrace with deck chairs a parasol but first two days when we sat there, the neigbours dogs barked. The air condition unit is under dimensioned and seems to stop around 3 a.m. and one sweat. There was an electric fan too but they make noise. The en-suite bathroom was big and clean but the water temperature in taps varied depending on the time of day.
We chose the place because it is in a less trafficated area. Was told that it takes 20 minutes to the centre, but it takes at least 40 minutes, depending how fast you walk. In the heat one does not walk fast. This meant it was too far to the sights in the centre, the restaurants, bus and train station. The host was friendly and helpful, understood English but spoke little. We managed to communicate with a mix of English and Italian. We paid for the room with credit Card and straigtaway, but was asked to pay hotel tax in Cash- It was sicily!
