We fell in love with "Casa Guardiao do Castelo! Amazingly beautiful place, a pool to die for, a castle in your backyard, fresh pastries from the baker man delivered daily, vinyard views, cobblestone roads and stone structures dating back to the 1300's.
Josea was a wonderful host, always there when we needed him, a delightful man with a vision for this quaint little village. Our Casa was an extension of the original stonework with wooden beams, a castle wall around the pool with the most unique design imagined and designed by our host. so as to fit into the architectural history of the village. Josea explained the history of the Casa, the Village, and how his family acquired it.
We emersed ourselves into the culture, visiting the castle daily, long walks and lively conversations with the
locals, (lots of hand gestering, broken Portuguese and English) but always pleasant and even jokes. The village is close to many other larger cities, wineries, and day trips were easy. At the end of the day, or if you just rested a day, we reccommend gathering your food and setting up a charcuterie affair by the gorgeous pool. Get some wine from the region. Even getting to the pool was a beautiful experience. We looked forward to every day of our stay.
I highly reccommend this VRBO and we definitely will be returning. I could live in this beautiful casa in this friendly peaceful little village.
