Expedia did not share that there was going to be construction during my stay. The hotel itself was fine, although outdated, had room for improvement as far as cleanliness, and the breakfast was only open until 9:00am. That’s way too early to end breakfast. Otherwise it was fine. Everyone was very kind and helped to the best of their ability

Staff was great. Only issue we had was construction starting early (they were working on upper floors). Elevators were a bit of a mess but I am sure they will be fixed/updated once construction is completed.

Property in midst of renovations, but in last 6 months bad room rate has gone up, they're charging a $16 "resort fee", and the only real extra seems to be the 3 hours of breakfast included each morning. If that's worth 16 on top of the raise in base room rate then ok, but they were a great choice for the traveler just looking for a clean solid room and are now seemingly trying to compete with the more upscale brands around them, IMHO missing what made this property a hidden gem for no nonsense travelers.

No longer worth the money
It was awful. Seriously considered checking out. We have stayed here several times over the past few years and it was fine. Worn but fine. It has gone WAY down hill. The elevator smelled so bad it made you gag. Our room was rusty, dingy and uncomfortable. The couch cover actually scratched my mom's arm so bad it bled for 10 minutes. The lobby was also shabby and sad. The price is not worth it. You are overpaying!

If you are doing construction in the hotel don’t put customers in the rooms directly below the rooms getting work done. I was woken up at 8am by constant hammering. Then not only was a room with construction above but a double twin instead of a king. I specifically booked a king. For over the high price we paid for one night, I’m beyond disappointed.

It was an alright stay.
The top two floors were being renovated and the construction workers were right above us when they started working at 9am which was fine but we didn’t know about the construction until we went to get on the elevator and saw the note about it. After breakfast when we got in the elevator it smelled very heavy of paint thinner. We rented the room at this hotel because we had to be at the MUSC hospital early in the morning and didn’t want to drive that morning before the procedure. Overall it was fine for the night, but if we have to get another hotel room in Charleston we will probably go to a different hotel.
