Staff, especially breakfast waitress very helpful and friendly. Place has lots of potential but needs more TLC and more effort re supplies at meatimes etc.
I was on business and don't really like the clinical nature of premier inn ect. I have stayed here before and love the traditional atmosphere and as it is a kind of gastro pub, the food, including the breakfast is really nice.
Lovely hotel, great location for getting to the football, bus stops right outside. Room lovely and clean, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb, will definitely return
2 night stay with friends to see Bruce at Stadium of Light and a day at Beamish.
Great location with easy access and a quirky pub with good food and range of beers.
This hotel is not worth £100 a night and would like a refund as this hotel is not what the pictures show at all and feel angry having payed for this 3 star best hotel
Very friendly staff
Would have liked a chair in the bedroom and although the bed foot was ornate and white and obvious both myself and my husband kept hitting our knees on them as they did stick out.
The room was disappointing considering the charge. Tired furnishings, extensive evidence of a roof leak, poor standard of cleaning.
Breakfast on the first morning of two was appalling! Porridge is not just oats with hot milk poured over the top… poached eggs were badly cooked, black pudding was undercooked. We also noticed another couple had left almost all of their full English breakfasts. The second morning was better but not outstanding.
Had we been paying £60 per night, I wouldn’t have minded so much, but it wasn’t worth £100 per night.
