I had a disappointing experience at The Canopy. When I checked in around 10:30 PM, the front desk staff was unfriendly and rushed through the explanation of everything, which made the environment feel uncomfortable.
Once I got to my room, I was surprised by how thin the walls were; I could hear noise from the neighboring rooms, including a couple next door having sex and loud music from below. It reminded me of my college days, which isn’t what I expected. The windows also didn’t block out street noise, so I could hear alarms and the train passing by.
The service throughout my stay felt unprofessional. It took about 20 minutes to check out and have my bags held. I also missed the breakfast cutoff by just seven minutes, and the staff wouldn’t let me buy a croissant, which seems unusual for a café. When I ordered a latte, I received a pre-made coffee with milk instead, which was disappointing since I know exactly what I’m looking for.
On a positive note, the decor is nice, and the location next to Union Station is convenient. However, if you're looking for a quality hotel experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
