Amazing! The area is great to explore but it was nice to come back to the cottage and just relax in peace and quiet. It had everything we needed. The view was wonderful, even when it was raining. Clean and cozy. The owner was always in touch and helpful. Looking to stay again.

Best view on the St Lawrence
This cottage is meant for 2 people only. Very roomy inside, could have squeezed in another bedroom but instead it is a one bedroom. Bedroom is directly off the kitchen. Very simple furnishings. The owner is builder a cottage next door, so next year things may be very different. But the view is amazing, and the ships pass by very close. Huge deck. Right now there is no safe direct access to the water. But if you like to sit and watch the water with your honey this is the spot for you. Owner is great, local, and helpful. I hope in the future the furnishings would be updated. We would go back. Clayton is a very convenient point to work out of. We spent mose of our days kayaking in local lakes

Fantastic view of River
Private location, well separated from neighbors. Very large wrap around deck that is great for all-day ship watching. Large oak trees provide deck shade at just the right times. Close to all Clayton amenities.

Fantastic
Before we arrived at the cottage, the first owner’s, grandchildren stopped and left a note. They describe how much their family loved the property. Their grandparents initials are craved in the sidewalk. It is a lovely place to make wonderful memories. I would definitely would stay again.

Was not happy with this place
If you rent this place, keep in mind you're paying for the location, which is very nice. However, the cottage is in desperate need of attention. I don't believe it has had a good thorough cleaning in years according to all the cobwebs and spiders and their nests hanging from the ceilings. There is dirt and dust all along the edges of the rooms and on all the blinds and windows. There is dust accumulated and hanging from the ceiling fans. When we first arrived, I saw the deck hadn't been swept in months and there was no broom for me to sweep it and clean the spider webs off the porch furniture. There was a full can of stinky garbage left in the cabinet from previous renters. We had a couple nice days that we could sit on the deck, however, when it started raining, I would have stayed inside and read if there would have been comfortable seating in the living room. We ended our stay two days early because we were so uncomfortable here. As far as the beach and the steps getting down there, be careful! The steps are so old and sunken into the bank that they are an accident waiting to happen. The dock is also in need of repair. This really could be a cute place if the owners would put some effort and money into the maintenance and care. I think they are depending on the renters to do the cleaning which is only fair to clean up after yourself, however, they need to hire a cleaning service to come in at least twice a month to do a good housecleaning. Also, spend some money and get some comfortable chairs in the living room! The kitchen is also in need of some equipment. I wanted to make a pot of soup and all that was available was a three quart pot. I have rented several times from VRBO and I can't say I've always been completely happy with my stays, but this is one that really did not live up to the description. This will be the last time I rent from VRBO because I no longer trust the descriptions or the reviews.

Needs some updating but it is a beautiful location
The boat dock is broken and in need of major repair. Steps down to shingle and rock beach needs some maintenance and is extremely steep. A handrail on the right hand side would be advisable. We did enjoy our stay though and caught a number of carp. Biggest catch was 22lb 4oz. It was during a heatwave in the 90s while we were there and relied on the ceiling fans as there is no air-con.
