Shower was not clean. Staff were not empowered (or perhaps didn't care) about anything you might have an issue with. Room looks nice, if not quite clean, just don't ask for anything that isn't extremely and obviously available We had an event 3pm-9:30pm in Eugene. Showed up at 2pm to see if we could get an early check-in and get ready. Desk person was uninterested in helping since official check-in was 4pm. Ok fine, it happens Checked in at 9:50pm, bar closes at 10pm. Breakfast (on a SUNDAY MORNING) closed at 9:30am. Got down there to eat at 9:25am and the coffee was completely empty--sure no problem. No one around to ask, so I went to the front desk where three employees were talking. I patiently waited about a minute for them to finish their conversation before they acknowledged I was there. I asked about the coffee. "Oh, that is up to the breakfast staff." "But there is not breakfast staff." "Yes, there is. I don't know where they are, but they are there." "Ok, so no coffee?" " Up to them." And they turned around and continued their conversation. I waited around until almost 10am and never saw a "breakfast staff" person, but did see many people walk through trying to get coffee. Breakfast was standard, if sparse (expected coming at the end). But the early close of breakfast hours and no coffee is silly. One employee not being helpful happens. Continued emphasis saying "it isn't my job--nothing I can do" is a culture of siloed powerlessness, poor hiring, or both.

We booked a modern hotel, the Hayward Inn, and we were housed in a shabby adjacent motel called the Franklin and had to walk three flights with our luggage. The shower knob was broken. The motel was like something I stayed in with my parents in the 80s. It felt like a bait-and-switch.
