Lovely setting and grand old place with the usual creaks and sound effects of an old and grand house. The staff were friendly and pretty efficient; - slightly sad we could not take the dogs down to the magnificent River Tweed running past - but presumably there would be safety concerns as well as outrage from anglers!
The Abbey Ruins next door are stunning as well. Overall, we were very happy indeed
We stayed 2 nights, a traditional hotel which exceeded expectations, the hotel was grand and not what we normally use, but it was great. Some of the decorations were tired but they are working on all these areas. Beds we’re comfortable and breakfast had good choice. We attended the Kelso ram sale and it was a lovely treat.
Location beautiful, staff very pleasant, food was good, room was nice but sink did not empty very quickly, extractor fan noisy, and bed was too soft for our taste.
That said overall very much enjoyed it
Disappointing a grand old hotel that has seen better days.Pub style food service on plain Formica tables,no table clothes,no character . Gone have the bottles of water in the room and the toiletries,it’s all about the bottom line
Lethargic staff, who took 1/2 an hour to realise they hadn’t put the table number on our food so it sat in the kitchens as no one thought to see who was without food! Pathetic
It's nice, but it's pretty rundown at this point. The breakfast is awful, but the staff are nice and helpful, and the area is great, but the hotel itself is just rundown and sad.

The property looks great and has so much character but internally the room was tired and need updating and a refresh.
A truly beautiful hotel in a wonderful country setting. We only spent one night there as part of a longer trip but we could have very easily spent a few days there exploring the surrounding countryside. If any traveller is looking for a great place to relax and forget the rest of the world for a while, we would recommend this spot.
We had a nice, quiet stay at this hotel to end our visit to Scotland. It was a very relaxing stay to end our trip. Our room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable.
The Dryburgh Abbey is directly across the parking lot from the hotel. Nice views of the Abbey and the River Tweed from the hotel. We were sad to check in and walk to the Abbey just as they had closed for the evening, so we sadly weren’t able to visit it during our stay.
The hotel has a small dining area and bar. I would recommend making a reservation for dinner if you are visiting.
Peaceful and blissful surroundings. Room lovely. Staff attentive. Very clean. Food excellent. A 4 star hotel experience at 3 star prices. Would highly recommend.

Quality of food did not reflect the prices, a cocktail bar that only offered bloody mary or mojito and the choice of 1 from 4 draught beers since 3 of the fonts off due to no beers available. Very disappointing

A comfortable stay at the hotel with a very good meal available in the Abbey Bistro. The hotel looks a little tired in its standards of decor and while my bathroom was recently refurbished, the bedroom was quite dated and would have benefited from new carpet and a general redo to bring it into the 21st century. Staff were all helpful and personable but wait staff in the restaurant could do with an experienced maitre d to keep an eye on things and deliver further training about monitoring tables and guests to facilitate a closer focus on details.
This Hotel has so much potential ...beautiful location, imposing building. But it is tired - shabby furnishings, stained carpets, chipped paint. We had a shower that fell to bits upon first use. Staff are friendly but poorly trained. We had one dinner in the restaurant which seemed to use the cheapest ingredients and was over priced for what it was. Go with low expectations.
we had a lovely stay at drybrigh abbey. The location is stunning and we had a very nice room with excellent views. Good parking and friendly staff. Good food, especially breakfast, though not a large dinner menu.

staff and setting lovely.
Staff , service and setting were great.
Room a bit tired looking, bed cover clicked and bath mat stained, no teaspoon for drinks.
This hotel is simply wonderful. It's location on the banks of the Tweed with the ruins of Drybrugh Abbey next door is gorgeous. Yes, in places the hotel is aging, but this adds to it's appeal. It exudes character and is a million milmes away from the sterile chain hotels. We did stay in one of the better rooms with a view of the river so this may cloud my judgement - some other cheaper rooms at the back of the hotel are less appealing but at a good price and with this location you'll still fall in love with this place. All the staff were really nice and cheerful too so I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
