We were visiting Columbus for a huge tournament that my teenage daughter's travel softball team was playing in, and the German Village Inn provided us with a room that satisfied all our needs: Affordable, clean, comfortable and safe. We will be back!
From the outside, the facility looks like a typical two-story motel facing in on central parking lot that was probably built in the 1960s or 70s. Although we saw some shady-looking hanging around a convenience store a few blocks away, we experienced no problems at the motel itself.
Cons: Just a few relatively minor complaints that I hope the Inn's management will embrace as suggested improvements rather than criticisms. 1) My mattress had a dip in it and probably should have been replaced already, but it wasn't a deal-breaker for me; 2) The bars of soap are pretty small and they only had two full-size towels in the room --- But in all fairness, the front desk immediately gave us two new towels and two new bars of soap when we asked for them; 3) The staff didn't actively service the room (e.g. take out trash/replace the soap and towels, etc.) during our three-night stay --- which again, wasn't a deal-breaker and motel management may have felt like they were respecting our privacy by not going in the room; and 4) Providing customers with some quick "grab-and-go" breakfast options (e.g. muffins, granola bars, fruit, yogurt, bottled water, coffee, etc.) would be a great move, and would likely improve business in the long run.
