Beautiful! Service great. Included excursions so fun! Food at their restaurant so good! Loved having access to the Fiesta Americana for other restaurants, beach beds, beach club, entertainment. The room for King bed was so nice! View of "jungle" So clean. Bright. Good Air. Basket of banana muffins, juice and coffee very nice touch. Mini fridge filled daily with water, drinks, milky ways and chips. There was an umbrella and safe. Never saw our cleaning staff but they were great! Bring bug spray. Loved this place!!!

My family spent 6 nights at the Explorean and had a wonderful time. Staff were kind and helpful especially the manager, Jorge, the head cook, and our favorite tour guide, Julio. The excursions were really fun, especially snorkeling at El Cielo and Punta Sur. We loved the different food options- everything was delicious. We will definitely go back to the Explorean.

An excellent place to stay. The staff are some of the friendliest, accommodating that we’ve ever come across. They excursions available daily and while we only took advantage of one it was worth it. That was a snorkeling trip and it was excellent. The one and only thing I didn’t care for was the Explorean pool. It’s situated really got in what I would call the rain forest and so it has a lot of organic debris in it. Given that it’s not a deal breaker because there’s a much bigger, better pool available at the Fiesta Americana. We got into a schedule of getting up, going to the pier and beach and snorkeling, eating at the beach club or grill then going to the pool. We are already planning on coming back in.

Great place to stay. Not far from downtown. Recommend taking snorkel gear. Water is beautiful and filled with lots of fish. You also dont have to pay for excursions. They come included if you stay at the explorean which is right behind main hotel. Everyday they do different excursions. Our guides were awesome as-well. Shouts out to Vega and Jassiel. Made us feel comfortable and safe.

This place is fantastic. The room has a great view of the jungle within the property where you can see hummingbirds and swallows every morning. They bring coffee and banana bread to your door every morning. It’s partnered with the fiesta Americana so you get all the pools and amenities from that hotel too. The resort also has excursions set up for you every day that are included in the price of the stay, which is huge. The tour guides, Julio, Armando, and Nestor all were perfectly bilingual, hilarious, and made sure you were safe on every excursion. The property makes you feel like you’re on an episode of survivor. We will definitely be back.

Property was very relaxing. The entire staff was amazing and made us feel welcomed. We were able to get picked up by the dive boat at the dock. The food was good quality and the drinks were made to order with top shelf liquor. The excursions was a nice bonus to staying there. Can't wait to go back!

My friend & I had a wonderful stay at the Explorean. The jungle setting was beautiful & relaxing. All of the staff were outstanding. They were so welcoming & made our whole visit special. I was especially impressed with the activity team, Jassiel, Nestor, Julio, Armando, Edgar, Vega (along with Epi & Luis on the boats). They made every effort to see that we had a lot of fun. They got to know us & also shared stories of their own lives. We were there for 14 days & asked for a repeat of our favorite excursion, El Ceilo & they scheduled it 2 more times with visits to different parts of the reef. Breakfast & lunch were very nice at Explorean's restaurant, Lool Kan. We enjoyed dinner there, but would have liked more menu choices. It was great that meals & facilities at the Fiesta Americana were also included. The Asian restaurant had amazing food & excellent service. Our favorite place for breakfast was the beach club buffet. The hostess there, Alejandra, knew our name by the 2nd visit & where we liked to sit. My favorite were the delicious tacos Virginia made me every morning. Our favorite lunch spot was at La Cevicheria with savory seafood & an amazing view of the shimmering ocean. One night was special with a buffet dinner on the beach followed by a fire show. Most of the FA night shows were good, but the amplified music would have been much better at half volume. The room was simple, very clean, with ample big towels, comfortable bed & pillows & mini bar stocked daily.

The VIP access had 2 rooms, 2 baths and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The view was excellent! Well worth the upgrade. The pools (all pools) should be fixed, tiles falling off, and large sections with holes making the facility appear run down.

They definitely need to upgrade the pools. Also bars dont open until 11 am. Needs to start at 9 am. Who doesnt want a mimosa with breakfast? The rooms also need a coffee pot. They deliver coffee at 7 am. We wake up at 5 am. No coffee until 6:30. It was peaceful and I enjoyed it. I would go again. They just need to make some minor changes. Except the pools. That is a major renovation. Tiles are falling off everywhere. The excursion staff was amazing. Julio is the best!

Beautiful property with absolutely wonderful employees. Great options for daily excursions but also plenty to keep the kids busy right at the resorts (shared with Fiesta Americana). The food is on par with an all inclusive- as in it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s good! Bar was always quick! Downsides are the condition of the pool as mentioned in lots of the reviews - and the shower doesn’t get very hot. Overall we were very happy with our stay!

What’s the bottom line? Would we stay here again? No. Would we stay at the Fiesta Americana? No. I wouldn’t recommend staying at this resort. If you are like us and try to see the good in things (and disregard the negative reviews others have mentioned) and still are interested in booking, please be mindful of our remember to bring water shoes, bug spray, anti-diarrheal, and walking shoes. Also, don’t forget that the beach access is probably closed- even if they tell you it will be open by the time you arrive. There is no other public beach access nearby and the beach clubs that are close, you have to pay to enter and use their facilities.
