Wonderful Stay At Casa del Sol
Casa del Sol was everything we could have ever wanted for our family vacation to Costa Rica; it is absolutely amazing! Four of us including two children (9 and 11) stayed for just under a week over February break. We have been fortunate to stay in many VRBO properties over the years, but I believe Casa del Sol is the best we have ever experienced. The home is very secure, located adjacent to resort grounds, gated and fenced.It is beautifully maintained. Despite being on the beach and next to the jungle, it was impeccably clean upon our arrival. The back yard and pool area is a great private area to enjoy the wonderful Costa Rican weather. The pool is large and in great condition, we spent many evening hours swimming and relaxing after our day’s beach excursions.The house has everything you could ever need for your stay. I can’t think of a single thing that was missing or in dis repair.The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. Most importantly, the staff (Diego and Marianna, especially) take great pride in their work and do a wonderful job to ensure everything is perfect for your stay. I am grateful for our time at Casa del Sol.

Property was just as described. We loved the pool area, it was wonderful as it had shaded and sunny areas and we loved that there were inflatable loungers for the pool. Diego was fantastic and arranged great outings for us. Mariana cooked for us and it was so nice to have our dinner waiting for us after the long ride from the airport. The resort next door was very handy for eating and their food was very good. The howler monkeys at the pool were amazing, and we wished that we saw more of them. Phyllis provided lots of great information and we ate at the restaurants she recommended and they were all good. We loved the "adventure" as this was off the beaten path, but be warned that the roads are very bad, full of pot holes and we didn't venture too far as a result. We rented a car, but it was quite expensive, and you would probably save money by just arranging transportation. There are no ATMs which made it difficult when vendors required cash. The beach access was not available when we first arrived, but Diego immediately cut a path for us. The beach is beautiful, and we loved walking on it. We took a surf lesson in Marabella and it was so much fun that we can't wait to go again. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. We would definitely go again! Thank you Phyllis for sharing your getaway home with us!

Casa del Sol Getaway
We had a wonderful stay. We had originally planned on four couples staying for two weeks which ended up being 3 couples for 2 weeks and 1 couple for 1 week. Everyone was ready for a relaxing holiday which we definitely had. Phyllis was great for answering my questions ahead of time. The house is beautiful and gave our group the space to not be on top of each other. Each room having its own bathroom was very important to us. I read another persons review who said the pool was a deal breaker. So true. We spent every day cooling off in the pool. Having our drinks, reading and listening to our music. The howler monkey came to visit a few times as well as a small family of racoons who came in the evening for drinks from the pool. Diego was the best! I almost felt bad for the amount of things I asked of him for our time there. We chose not to rent a vehicle for our group and rely on paying for rides wherever we needed to go. Diego arranged everything we asked for giving us a price ahead of time. One thing about the location, its not within walking distance for supplies so we made a few paid trips to buy groceries and drinks. San Juanillo and Marabella both have little stores so that is where most of our supplies came from during our stay. The Azul Ocean Resort is right next door so we could always go there for meals in their restaurants. We did that a few times. The beach is an easy walk. Overall it was a great place to stay!

The best vacation ever!
When I started to look for a house to rent in Costa Rica I was pretty overwhelmed by the huge amount of available houses. I checked roughly one hundred of them online but kept coming back to Casa del Sol every time because it offered everything I was looking for and the price was really resonable. My must-haves were: Proximity to the beach, an unshared private pool long and deep enough to swim and not just dabble, air conditioning and a well equipped kitchen for cooking. This house offered everything and more. Before booking I contacted the owner Phyllis who responded very quickly and was so helpful. Now that my stay is unfortunately over I want to thank Phyllis for being such a fantastic host, before, during and after my stay! The communication was always uncomplicated and she will do everything possible to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. E.g. I mentioned to her that the knives in the kitchen could need some sharpening. The next working day she had already organised for someone to come to the house and sharpen them, that was amazing. If you chose this house you are in for a treat. The only thing you hear when you wake up is the sound of the waves and the wildlife. And don’t worry about the howler monkeys, they are by far not loud enough to wake you up and watching them hang around in the trees while you are in the pool is great fun. The beach is a very short walk away and you have it mostly all to yourself. During my two weeks‘ stay I saw maybe 8 people overall. The house is very well maintained with a gardener coming twice a week and a maid coming three times a week, they are both very friendly. Also the house manager Diego is really great, he is fluent in English and always happy to help you with anything you might need. The kitchen is extremely well equipped! Smaller grocery stores are a short ten minutes‘ drive away and there are also a couple of restaurants nearby. The pictures of the house are 100% accurate and what you see is what you get. I could go on forever but this is getting a bit too long. Thank you again Phyllis, as you know I have travelled to many countries but this was the best vacation I have ever had and I am definitely going to come back!

Casa Del Sol - Host Phyllis is Amazing
Our trip was excellent. The host was so helpful prior to our trip. She was always quick to respond and answered all our questions. It was our first time in Costa Rica and the house was impeccable. It was exactly like the pictures so clean and beautiful. The house manager Diego helped us plan some fun events. I really can't say enough good things about Phyllis and her team. I would definitely stay there again. There are many close restaurants with good food. It is walking distance to a beautiful beach. We absolutely had the best time. Thank you so much!

Awesome Vacation
Our family has visited all 50 states together. We have been on a couple all inclusive. 8 cruises. Casa del Sol is quite possibly our favorite vacation. Before we left two of our party were already looking at returning. The road to the Casa is a little rough but because of that you get away from all the touristy stuff. Nobody on the beautiful black sand beach trying to sell you a souvenir. The towns nearby, Marbella and San Juanilla are full of true Costa Rican culture. Most of the people spoke little to no English which was a slight barrier but that’s on us for knowing very little Spanish. If you go to a restaurant the workers will all speak English but we prefer the Sodas where the food was authentic, delicious and much cheaper. Also like to support the local economy. The house is very nice. Pots, pans, glassware, plates and every utensil you would possibly need. We like to make our own breakfast and we frequently sent a couple people to town for take out from the sodas. The main attraction for us was the large pool in the back yard. Howler monkeys visited us a few times along with the assortment of birds and lizards. Not enough can be said about the house manager Diego. He was Johnny on the spot when we had a question. And we had a lot of questions. He set up an awesome fishing trip for us and arranged for both an authentic Costa Rican breakfast and dinner both made by the awesome housekeeper Marianna. They were wonderful people and we will miss them. If you like touristy crap this is not for you. If you are not comfortable with native bugs, animals and people you might also wish to avoid. But if you truly want to get away and enjoy the Pura Vida life, Casa del Sol is the place.

Spectacular Home and Location - highly recommend
This was easily the most beautiful property we have ever stayed at. We loved the location, the nearby amenities, and honestly this home had everything!!! We spent every night swimming in the pool being serenaded by monkeys, and the wildlife. We spent the days surfing, SUP’ing, doing yoga and swimming. There’s so many yummy restaurants nearby. We also we’re here during. New Years and had a perfect view of the fireworks! (Many thanks to Diego for answering all our questions!) we will be back! THANK you.

Wonderful house, quiet, and relaxing
This house was very nice to stay in. It is remote and quiet. There is no road noise, parties or crowds to deal with. With a fully stocked kitchen we were able to bake bread, cook any dinner, and celebrate the holidays how we wanted. The beach is beautiful and the waves are huge. With the remoteness, we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. There is a beach view from the house, but to get to the beach there is a bit of a hike. At first this was a little uncomfortable, but we got used to it. The kids acted like we were jungle trekking. Diego the property manager is very responsive, understanding and kind. It was a special vacation that everyone enjoyed. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.

Great house
The house is beautiful and very private and secure, the pool is big but it is VERY slippery primarily the stairs and it has no shadow. The playa azul is really close but it has a lot of waves and current so it is not safe to get in the water, luckily there are other beaches near that are really beautiful.

This was a getaway vacation with our family who live on Ontario, Seattle, Michigan and was perfect! The home was fabulous with private ensuites in each bedroom and ample living areas to share. Steps from the ocean and across a driveway from a pool and resort made it ideal for our family. The amenities were fabulous for a bigger group (we had 9 including our grand baby). Peace, quiet and seclusion
A beautiful vacation home! Well equipped with all the comforts of home. Nothing like falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean waves. This property is very secluded, you will have the beach all to yourself. Surf is strong so not ideal for young children. There are two other beaches very close to the house in neighboring towns that are great for swimming, surfing and snorkeling. This was the perfect spot for our family holiday gathering.

Quite, relaxing, and close to amenities.
The house is great. Enough kitchen stuff... blender, coffee maker, pots pans, and a small market close by if you need to cook. We didn’t do much of that. Far enough away from the really busy places, but still close enough to enjoy plenty of the country. Even if you don’t venture out, the resort has all you need for dining and stuff to do. Nice gym, nice pool, quiet beach, and a really good restaurant. Excursions can be booked close by also.
