Idyllic wooden cabin 45 minutes away from Edinburgh & Glasgow

Larch Cabin provides a rural escape for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts or those seeking peace and quiet amongst the stunning Ochil Hills whilst still being conveniently located for Dollar village and Gleneagles.

Self-contained with open-plan living and sleeping space, Larch Cabin has been lovingly restored with sustainability at heart: heated exclusively by wood-burning stove fed with logs from our woodland, powered by renewable electricity and with water solely supplied via a private natural spring. Extensive insulation ensures snug winters and cool summers, however, water bottles and extra blankets are provided for the chilliest of Scottish nights and guests are encouraged to bring their own slippers to cosy in.

The wood-burning stove includes integrated pizza shelf and top oven for cooking jacket potatoes or stews whilst a modern kitchenette with electric ceramic hob and fridge freezer gives the best of both worlds. Complete with a range of full cooking utensils and serving ware including stovetop espresso maker along with complimentary coffee from our local local coffee roaster.

The ensuite bathroom provides a walk-in rainfall shower with water supplied from our own spring while a double-bed with organic cotton sheets creates a perfect resting place after a long day on the hills. All furnishings, complimentary toiletries and cleaning products are eco-friendly and, where possible, locally sourced and British made.

The cabin's private verandah has seating for outdoor dining and offers views across our market vegetable garden, a newly planted heritage orchard to pasture and woodlands beyond: a perfect spot to enjoy the rich wildlife. We are very lucky to have red squirrels, deer and pine martens visiting the woodlands and beavers and otters have now been sighted in the Devon. The valley is full of birdsong including that of the song thrush, woodpecker, bullfinch, lapwing, fire crest, kite and heron to name a few.

The cabin's private garden includes BBQ and firepit. Please kindly note: smoking is not allowed within the cabin or on the premises.
Make yourself comfortable in this cabin, which features a fireplace. A kitchenette is outfitted with a refrigerator and a stovetop. Conveniences include a coffee/tea maker and a dryer.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as bike storage.
Breakfast is available for a fee.
Guests will find features like onsite parking.

Only downside is we didn’t stay long enough!
We had an amazing stay at the Larch Cabin and particularly enjoyed the serenity of the location as well as the charm of the wood stove. That being said, a toaster oven would have been useful to be able to have a quick breakfast (i.e. without tending the fire for an hour). The bed, blankets, and pillows were super comfortable. We stayed 3 nights and I would recommend this as the bare minimum since there are a lot of things to see in the area and just relaxing at the cabin really is what it’s all about. So we would have liked to have at least one more day to stay in. We hope we’ll have the chance to come back!

Perfectly Peaceful
This cabin was amazing! The location is picturesque. It has everything you need. Caroline and Andy have thought of everything when they created this space. We did not want to leave! We also received a special treat when their son suited up and played the bagpipes for us as we left the area. It was just an amazing experience. We will be back next time we are in Scotland!

A Little Piece of Scottish Heaven
This stay is a large reason we want to return to Scotland. The cabin was so adorable, cozy and relaxing. It's obvious it is maintained with thoughtfulness and a focus on hospitality. The surrounding areas are filled with beautiful sights and opportunities to explore. Caroline and Andy (hosts) strive to make your stay an amazing experience. They are friendly, very knowledgeable about the area (eating and local activities), and helpful. We would highly recommend this cabin for those who want to get away and enjoy the local Scottish experience.

Lovely
I had such a lovely 2 night stay here. The place had everything i needed for a quiet stay all by myself, with lots of extra touches, yoga mat, whisky and tablet, bluetooth speaker, and a big stack of logs. Plenty of great walks nearby but also no reason to leave. The hosts were friendly and helpful and are close enough for it not to feel isolated, but only pop over to say hello on arrival and then leave you to it. It all feels very thoughtful and low impact so if thats your thing, definitley go here

Tranquil oasis
This place was a dream for me and my partner.. we took one last photo as we were leaving the property, wondering when we might be able to come back! The cottage is in intimate, serene, relaxing oasis away from the hustle and bustle of life, that has all of your essential needs to kick back and recharge in beautiful nature. Practically, the cabin is stacked with everything you need (all manners of cookware, bathroom supplies etc) but also wood and fire starters for the lovely fire oven you get to use (yes it has one), an outdoor bbq area, hammocks and so much more. You will definitely not regret staying here. Time evaporated and we were able to enjoy every day in this space. Of course, near by you have Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sterling, all of which are must visit spots! Caroline and Andy were also lovely and gracious hosts who were regularly checking to see if we had everything we needed, without ever being intrusive~ such lovely people! book it, you won't regret it~ Thank you both for everything! Utopia Found!
A thoroughly enjoyable experience for us both! Serenity and tranquillity rolled into one. Flora and fauna are in abundance here and right on your doorstep. Imagine you’re at a refuge in the Italian Dolomites and you’re there. Trust me, I know! As for our hosts, Caroline and Andy… genuinely warm, welcoming and friendly and ever accommodating! And yet, respectfully distancing themselves, leaving you to savour and fully absorb all the facets and aspects of your adventure. Unforgettable!

It was a lovely and very unique experience
The little cabin is situated perfectly for a Scotland trip. It is a hidden gem right on front of the Ochil hills and only 35 minutes from Edinburgh. If you want to visit the Highlands you need around 1 till 2 hours. We enjoyed the surroundings so much. It's like fairytale land basically. The two hosts are lovely. The burst of charme and have the best tips for hikes, trips and places. The cabin is super excluded and provides everything one could dream of, including an old record player with BT controls. We won't forget about our trip and want to say Thank you for this wholesome adventure.
