Ruby Molly did not live up to the expectations set by our previous stays at other Ruby hotels around Europe, which have always been excellent. At 3:30am, while we were asleep, someone repeatedly tried to open our hotel room door. This was extremely frightening and not a situation any guest should experience. What made this worse was the complete lack of any way to contact reception from the room. There are no phones, no buzzers, and when we tried calling the hotel using our own phone, we were met only with recorded messages and no response. We were left feeling scared and frustrated, unsure whether the person trying to enter our room was dangerous or what their intentions were. Eventually, my husband reluctantly opened the door and went downstairs to reception, where the staff member was sitting with headphones on. The person attempting to enter our room turned out to be drunk and in his underwear, something we obviously did not know at the time. This incident completely ruined our sense of safety and comfort for the rest of our stay.
Breakfast was also disappointing. Hot food was cold, cold food was room temperature, and tables were not being wiped despite breakfast not being busy. One staff member stood nearby scrolling on her phone rather than attending to tables.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, particularly given how much we have enjoyed other Ruby hotels. Unfortunately, due to the safety concerns and poor service, we would choose to stay elsewhere!
