The hotel is lovely and in a quiet location. The service was excellent.
The main issue was the noise and the bathroom being adjacent to the room across the Hall. There was very little insulation from the hallway. So anyone passing or using the bathroom woke us up.
Really nice hotel in a beautiful very quiet setting. Rooms were nice though the water pressure a touch inconsistent, lounge downstairs and honesty bar were very handy as the hotel is quite out of the way, no restaurant for dinner, but breakfast was good. Allocation of rooms was a little odd and the wifi was very spotty.
Balmule House is amazing! Beautiful house and grounds, peaceful atmosphere, and impeccable service. The house is beautifully restored. The host and employees were very attentive and friendly. We took a week long tour of Scotland with a different B&B each night. This was by far the best experience, and not even the most expensive place we stayed. Great value. When we come back to Scotland, we want to come back here and spend more time.
Rooms were luxuriously decorated en suite bathroom was huge, loved the comfort of warm tiles underfoot. The breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented. Staff couldn't be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back and will recommend to friends.
We stayed one night at Balmule House prior to a driving experience at Knochhill Racing Circuit. The property is beautiful and has been tastefully decorated throughout. There is no restaurant, so dinner involves either a drive or a taxi journey (about £10 each way), but if you are fine with this, then this a lovely place to stay with fantastic views over the countryside. The breakfast was fantastic and everything is cooked to order. We would definitely come back.
We'd definitely stay here again. Set in the country with superb views yet close to Dunfirmline, we experienced a warm welcome and enjoyed relaxing in the drawing rooms. Our comfortable yellow bedroom with its enormous en suite bathroom that overlooks the formal walled garden and view to the west, is a delight. James gave us a list of recommended nearby places to eat and summoned a taxi when we'd made our choice. We were not disappointed.
We loved the breakfast. It was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had.
Balmule is a beautifully restored and decorated house in a bucolic setting. Staying there is like visiting a wealthy cousin -- warm staff, great service, exquisite amenities. Cannot say enough good things about this fairy-tale like experience.
Staff go way beyond excellent. Nothing was too much for them to make us welcome. We have used hotels all over the world and this one rates among the best.
I am a frequent traveler throughout the UK and stay at many, many hotels. I arrived at this gorgeous hotel quite late and in some difficult weather. On arrival I was met by the most friendly and helpful gentlemen where nothing was too much trouble. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant and I was quite prepared to head back out to one of the recommended places to eat, I was informed that they were cooking something homemade for themselves and I was welcome to have some to save me going back out in the treacherous weather.... what service! I accepted and the meal was delicious. On arrival at the room it was beautifully presented and the cherry on the cake was the enormous modern en suite bathroom with a huge bath, fireplace and under floor heating. My only disappointment with this establishment is that I didn't arrive earlier so that I could have stayed longer! Will definitely be returning and rank it as one of the nicest hotels I have visited.
So disappointed we were only booked for one night. we were made so welcome and it was very much like home from home. everything was perfect and would definitely recommend. you do need to drive as the hotel is quite secluded but please dont let that put you off.
My daughter and I stayed for three nights the staff where amazing very friendly and helpful, room was beautiful just a bit disappointed that the bathroom was not ensuite but it was only next door, Breakfast was great served on time and to our liking all in all had a great stay :)
Spotless hotel, in easy reach of Dunfermline if you have a car or short taxi ride. The hotel offers breakfast only but provides fully equipped kitchen and cooking facilities. Clean, comfortable rooms and bed in a tastefully restored country house. Staff on hand to give advice on local restaurants and to make your stay enjoyable. Would stay again.
A fabulous two day stay with my wife. The hotel was everything we hoped it would be, remote but close enough to local amenities to reach Edinburgh and surrounding attractions. Staff were excellent through out.
