Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline was very pleasant, room was adequate & clean, staff very pleasant, breakfast options were plenty and tasty. The hotel is on the bus routes to and from Dunfermline with a stop just outside the hotel on main road. The only thing about our stay which stopped us drinking or dining at the hotel was the amount of dogs in the main lounge area, one of our party has a serious medical reaction to animal hair which defines our choices in these matters.
Room was clean however “double” bed was tiny. No plugs near a mirror in the room so couldn’t do my hair. Shower head bracket was broken so had to manually hold it to shower.
Breakfast was poor, as was really busy and food was not replenished and waited around for it to be and wasn’t. No bacon, juices, croissants, hash browns or knives!
Pancake machine gave out a dot of a pancake after waiting ages for it to cook.
Wasn’t asked if everything was okay when we checked out.

Sarah is amazing, went out of her way from my arrival (late and freezing), she arranged to bring a sandwich to my room. Nothing was a problem.
We called holiday inn in advance to change room to twin room (after an hour on call we were assured that this would be the case) - but arrived to be told it was not changed - and staff quite dismissive, all twin rooms booked and the room we had only had a small double. there was a gap where the full size double should be at one side - not ideal for friends.
2nd time here - first time excellent - dog friendly for £25 extra - this time the room had no heating in bathroom and breakfast was a little dry - price did not seem balanced either.
