About this property
New 2 bed Lodge near Dunoon on the Shore Front
Lewand Lodge is situated on the idyllic and stunning Cowal Peninsula coastline just 15 minutes from the picturesque town of Dunoon, most famous for it’s Scottish Highland Games, its Victorian Pier and Castle House Museum on the lower firth of Clyde and south of the Holy Loch. There is a plethora of wildlife and sea mammals. Humpback whales, porpoises, dolphins, our wee seals that like to bask on a rock at Seal Cove meters from the lodge. We regularly see red squirrels, deer, foxes and an array of birds from diving Gannets to Oystercatchers, Herring Gulls, Eagles, Black Grouse, Grey Herons are but just a few.
We are also dog friendly.
Approximate distances in miles
Dunoon 4m | Gourock ferry stop to Glasgow is 29m | Dunoon to Loch Lomond is a one hour drive | Dunoon to Inverary is a one hour drive | Dunoon to Colintraive is 20m a 35 min drive and catch the ferry to the Island of Bute. (Mount Stuart is not to be missed).
The Lodge:
Our compact and cosy Lodge is brand new and just opened this month. The Cabin has two bedrooms and a chill room plus open plan kitchen, diner and lounge seating area. We provide a large selection of items, just in case you forget anything and we are always on hand to help whatever questions you may have. We are on the shore front and visually there are stunning and extremely impressive views. We can see 6 islands from our garden (Bute, Arran, Little Cumbrae, Great Cumbrae, Holy Isle and Ailsa Craig on a clear day).
The Area:
We cross the road and find ourselves straight onto the beach front where you can find pieces of coloured glass, unusual stones, fossils and rock pools.
Locally we have great restaurants, a village store/post office within 1 mile walking distance, selling local delicacies. We have The Osborne Hotel and The Royal Bar again a 1 mile walk.
What to do:
Innellan has its own Golf Club which sits at the back of the hills to the rear of the lodge. There are quiz nights and local bands and other entertainment at the local pub, also snooker and darts.
Argyll and Bute are renowned for their craft arts and craft trails. We are proud to say that we have our own boating club at Toward Point Lighthouse. There is pony trekking, bowls, a tennis club, a swimming pool with flumes, crazy golf, chainsaw craft centre, kayaking either in the sea or you can visit Loch Eck close by. Botanical Gardens at Benmore are most definitely worth a visit. The Queens Hall provides entertainment throughout the year and also has a gym. The high street offers an array of shops that will satisfy everyone’s needs and tastes.
Historic Kilmun boasts a very old Church (20 min drive) which has a mausoleum of some of the Campbell Clan buried within and many other interesting Tombstones. The churchyard is fascinating and some of the coloured glass work is so detailed and intricate. At the same time follow a trail around the arboretum.
If you feel more adventurous you can take a sea expedition (Wreckspedition) from the Marina in Dunoon (10 mins drive away) where you can experience a scuba dive or alternatively book a power boat tour. When we look outside it is hard to believe that there are over 300 ship wrecks in the sea.
Cruise liners regularly pass our house, as do yachts, cargo vessels, fishing trawlers and submarines. You may spot the famous, last seafaring paddle steamer in the world – The Waverley. This is a must do on your visit.
