The area was fantastic, steps to dining and shopping and the hop on/off bus stop. There is a farmer's market on Saturdays (at least in the summer time) which was a lovely surprise, and a Sainsbury (grocery store) up the street. When we got there we were told that there was no a/c in the hotel- which I can understand with it being Edinburgh, however, being on the fourth floor, the room was very stuffy and the windows did not open enough to allow for good air flow. The hotel provided a desktop fan for the room, I needed a second one, which they provided without hassle. Guests of this hotel are entitled to use the pool and restaurant at their sister hotel a few steps away, but the pool is not actually in this hotel and the restaurant in this hotel is only open for breakfast, however, it looks like the space was available for use throughout the day.

We loved Apex City Hotel. The staff members were all very friendly, the guest room was clean, comfortable and spacious for 3 people. There's a nice buffet style breakfast at the hotel restaurant at reasonable prices. We can walk to shops, local restaurants and attractions. Edinburgh Castle is a 15 minute walk. National Art Gallery is a 10 minute walk. Loved the purified water dispenser on each floor and a water carafe in the room--did not have to buy bottled water! We were here for the Fringe Festival and could walk to all the major performance venues (the furthest one was only a 15 minutes walk).

This hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh, with a great view of the city. It's in walking distance of great shopping, pubs, and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is an extra fee and they have a very small lot. Breakfast is also an extra fee but was delicious with friendly service. I especially appreciate the chilled, filtered water they offer on each floor. We stayed in a "family room" that does not have air conditioning. But they had a fan available and it was quite comfortable. We were there at the end of July.

Staff was lovely. Very accommodating and friendly. We stayed in two different rooms. The first was a double with no air conditioning. The second was a queen with air and a nicer view. The beds in both rooms were hard. Which in our experience seems to be the norm. Location was convenient to everything! A full breakfast was included! This was a pleasant stay overall for us! We would stay here again.

Please be aware that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING in the rooms. On Expedia website in the main description it was mentioned that the hotel had AC. You would assume that it means that all rooms have AC. In fact they only have a few more expensive rooms with AC. We stayed in July 2025 during a heat wave and our room (large triple room) had a small portable fan! It was not possible to stay in that room as it was a sauna. We had to pay extra to upgrade to a superior room to survive! Expedia refused to reimburse this extra expense. Other than that the hotel is very good. Breakfast is excellent and the staff is very nice and helpful.

We reserved a room with a/c for a one night stay enjoy the Royal Mile and all it had to offer. We were very disappointed to find the room to be about 90 degrees and no a/c. I returned to the front desk and requested either a room with a/c or a refund. The staff was understanding and moved us to a room with a/c or so we thought. The a/c didn’t work in that room. So we were moved to another room, where the a/c barely worked but thought we would give it an hour or so to cool the room. This process had now taken over 2 hours to this point. We were starving and went across the street for food and would go back to check on the room temperature. An hour an a half later, it’s still very warm in the room. We notify the front desk and come up and advise it’s working properly. They bring up 2 fans. We had friends staying there as well, who literally had to sleep in sweat pants because their room was so cold. Now we’ve waisted more time at the hotel. We try and go see the town before an early flight back out to the states the next morning, just to find the still to be hot. We were very upset at that point! It’s was so nice outside that night, that I thought about sleeping on the street, like a homeless person! I realize it’s not the management’s fault. Maybe a better maintenance staff would go a long ways! Hey maintenance staff, I would probably start by checking the capacitors on your units! And I don’t know that much about a/c’s. We wouldn’t stay here again.
