The story of Tuttle Point House:
As a child, I spent many summers on the water with my family. From being up before dawn to go fishing with my grandparents, to staying up late for campfire s'mores under a starry night sky- my love for the river life runs deep.
I've spent many years on Tuttle Point before I owned my home here.
My relatives own a cottage on the peninsula as well, which is how I fell in love with Tuttle Point.
I can recall so many of my favorite memories happening right here on "the island" (what the locals call it), which is why I knew I had to have my own piece of paradise here.
For years I have been collecting the pieces that you see inside Tuttle Point House, all intentional as I knew one day they would be placed in a home on the water.
The driftwood in the dining room was found along the shore of the island when I was out walking one day many years before I lived here. I brought it home as a reminder that one day it would be back on the island.
In the summer of 2018, my childhood dream of owning my own spot on Tuttle Point became real.
But that was just the beginning.
At the time, the home was just a shell. We spent a full year making this house a home (we have a book in the cottage that shows our journey!)
We are so excited to share our piece of paradise with you and hope that you and your family will create as many life long memories here as we have.
More details:
Tuttle Point House is located only 40 minutes south of Ottawa, 1.75 hours from Montreal, 1.5 hours east of Kingston, and 10 minutes to the bridge to the USA.
On the main level there you can find the living room, dining, and kitchen, which overlook the channel side of the St Lawrence. Off the kitchen, you'll find the master bedroom that has a queen bed, and also the washroom- both of which overlook the bay on the other side of the peninsula.
When you walk down the stairs to the lower level, on your left is the second bedroom with a queen bed, dresser, and closet. You'll also find a laundry room with a front load washer and dryer.
Walking outside from the lower level you'll find a large deck (16 x 28) overlooking the St Lawrence River and a dock complete with a diving board. Off the diving board, it's about 20' deep (in the summer).
*** Frequently Asked Questions- Please read the full description prior to making a reservation request! ***
Our house is pet friendly, although due to allergies we can only accept non shedding/low shedding/short hair breeds. If you’d like to bring your dog, please let us know what breed when you submit a request.
Our basement is partially finished- the basement has exposed ceilings and a concrete floor with radiant floor heating. It is not finished as we are unsure how we want to finish it yet.
Guests are responsible for their own garbage removal. We have garbage pick up Friday's at 6AM at the corner of Tuttle Point Road and North Channel Road. Anything that does not get taken out on Friday is the responsibility of the guest. The is a $50 garbage fee if any garbage is left on the property.
Since this is our home, there are some areas that are off limits to guests; the pantry in the kitchen, storage room in the basement.
While our home is updated and modern, it's in the country, which means there are bugs, birds, rabbits, foxes, etc. You'll also notice bugs and spiders outside. We have intentionally chosen not to spray for spiders or bugs since we have pets and host many guests with pets as well.
We have a BBQ and firepit. Guests are responsible for their own propane and firewood. Both can be purchased at Canadian Tire in Prescott.
