Sweet Alice Heritage House - Close to Everything Encinitas on Private 1/2 acre

Step back in time to the early days of Encinitas, where avocado grooves lined the coastal hills and no one knew what surfing was. Encinitas is a hidden gem in San Diego County, one of the last frontiers of laid-back, truly authentic beach towns. The beaches are pristine, the locals are joyful and friendly, and the vibe, we believe you will find, is exceptionally relaxing. Encinitas is recognized globally as one of the most quintessential surf towns in the world. Experience the culture of a sleepy surf town as you take off your shoes and put on your flip-flops.

- Serene and peaceful home on large lot
- Backs up to canyon, with sunset views
- Fully stocked kitchen
- Outdoor Dining area and BBQ
- Property grounds has walking path and garden benches

This 1947 home is situated on over a half acre lot with open skies and canyon views. Beautiful and carefully updated and restored in 2011 to keep the old school charm and blend with the surrounding environment. Spacious two bedrooms and one full bathroom, large living space gives you enough room to relax and find your quiet space to enjoy your vacation time.

Outside patio area is perfect to enjoy a meal with the family. Fire pit and chairs in the canyon to relax at night and pretend you are at a bonfire on the beach. Fully fenced in lot with a gated entrance, provides peace of mind that the kids can play safely outside. The large grass area is great for a pick up game of soccer or to teach the kids how to play croquette.

The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to create your culinary masterpiece. Complete set of pots and pans, bake ware, cooking utensils, place setting for 8, oils and spices, tin foil and baggies. We wanted you to have everything you need, just like back home. Four-burner gas stove with large oven, big enough to handle a Thanksgiving dinner prep. Beautiful granite counter tops, hard-wood cabinetry with glass inlay, bring modern style to this retro kitchen.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed, with a firm but comfy new mattress. The 2nd bedroom features a queen sized bed. Both beds are outfitted with organic high-thread count sheets and pillow cases. Allergy-free pillow protects insures everyone will get a good night rest. Plenty of bath and hand towels are included for your stay with us.

Take a journey back in time to the world-renowned surf town of Encintas in our Sweet Alice Heritage House vacation home. Come stay with us, we would love to host your next family vacation.

We have updated our cleaning fee and our cleaning procedures due to Covid-19. Our maids have been trained to follow CDC's guidelines for sterilizing the home between each guest. We use a commercial grade virucidal, antibacterial and disinfectant on all surfaces in-between each guest stay. We also use an air disinfectant after each cleaning before the maid leaves to make sure the house is completely sterilized for your health.

Wonderful stay
Really felt like our home for the stay. Cool bit of history as we talked with Dave…used to be citrus and avocado orchard. Worked well for us as there was grass to work on soccer, and super close to run to a great (quiet during week) beach. Dave was attentive to our one issue and there quickly trying to fix it…together we got it taken care of. We would definitely stay here again.

Sweet indeed
Sweet Alice was a very nice home to stay in for our San Diego vacation. Close to everything we wanted to do and the house is so wonderful. We enjoyed the yard seeing lots of birds and bunnies. We even lit a fire in the fire pit. Felt like a home away from home. Would stay again.

Great place to stay
This was a great place to stay, convenient location, quiet neighborhood and a large yard. Really liked staying here and Dave, the property manager was quick to respond. It was great to have access to beach umbrella and beach chairs. The only thing is that all the toys on the property inside or outside are pretty much broken. Tried to check a couple of board games, but they didn't contain the peaces are were probably all mixed up between the boxes. We enjoyed the beach and the outdoors. It's was a very nice house and a quiet neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again if we'll be in the area.

Updated Comfortable House
Really enjoyed our stay here. It's an older Encinitas home that has been updated to make it more comfortable and to enjoy the view. Very quiet location above small canyon, with a Catholic Church behind you. We did notice lots of traffic on Christmas Eve, since the drive shares the road with the Church, but that was short lived. The two bedrooms were very comfortable and quiet. Bring some eye masks if you are a late sleeper, because there are no blackout curtains in the master bedroom. The kitchen was small but adequate for cooking for the 3 of us. The house sits on a nice piece of property with a lawn, some fruit trees, and a firepit where you can all sit around and make s'mores. The front room was a great place to relax with a view of the canyon and the sunset.

We took a family girls weekend to the beach and stayed at Sweet Alice. It’s super cute and we all felt that the owner took pride and care in helping their guest feel comfortable. Sweet little touches everywhere like they really thought about what their guest would enjoy. We would definitely stay here again.

OK… but there were issues!
The property is lovely and as depicted in the description and pictures. But: 1. The driveway entrance to the property is totally torn up with huge chunks of concrete that we worried we’re going to damage our car every time we drove in or out. This was a hazard. 2. We had a massive ant infestation that was dealt with by the property exterminator but we had to live with aunts everywhere in the kitchen for 3 days. Once the exterminator came the problem was resolved but until then all food had to be kept in the refrigerator. 3. Nothing tells you that the property shares roads with a church and its very busy school. If you try to leave or come home between pick up hours you cannot get near Sweet Alice Lane. You also run into bike and car traffic from the Middle School and preschool across the street! We know and love the area… but these things were definitely concerns. And since I came in recovering froze an unexpected broken hip, these issues added complications! Under different circumstances we would have used the grounds more…. Loved the birds! Please fix the driveway and tell folks about the school hours! Carole Levine

Great hideaway for family
We needed a place to stay for a sports tournament in the area and this place was perfect. The GPS took me to the wrong address, but it wasn't difficult to figure out where to go. The driveway had some damage, but we just avoided it and it was fine. The house itself was full of thoughtful touches and very well maintained. The host was responsive and accommodating. Location was perfect with groceries, restaurants and activities nearby. Best feature is the location of the house. It's really hidden away which is great for me and my family. Quiet neighborhood and peaceful.

Great family vacay
Overall, we had a great stay! The house had everything we needed (toys, books, games, pack n play, booster/high chair seat, beach towels, etc.). My girls loved running around the yard and throwing the frisbee and kicking a ball around. There were some appliance issues, but Dave was very responsive and had repair guys out to fix them ASAP. We spent most of our time at Legoland, so didn’t affect our stay too much. We’ll definitely return!

The house was perfect. The entrance is terrible. The concrete is busted and the gate hard to push open and very rough entering and exiting. The yard was fantastic. The fire pit!!! Get rid of the rusted out thing and replace it! It was stated to make sure and put the screen over the fire…….no screen….rusted! Broken chairs. Make it nice to sit out. We willl consider staying again.
