Wonderful

The place felt very safe and in a nice setting with plenty of green outside space. Rooms were very clean and spacious with nice private front terraces. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the onwer, Agnes, who arranged sightseeing trips in the area, airport transfer (15 mins) and other transport for us. There is a nice bar area where they serve great breakfast and drinks. They even stocked up on our favourite drinks on request.
The only drawback for us was the location. It's very isolated on a residential dirt road so to get to Victoria Lake, supermarkets or restaurants you rely on costly guesthouse transport or UBER (wifi in Uganda is very flaky due to power cuts). Agnes did arrange takeaway from a nearby restaurant one evening so that's an option otherwise.
This was an exceptionally positive experience for us in so many ways. We were warmly welcomed, had delicious breakfasts, and treated like old friends in this wonderful guesthouse. We truly appreciated how kind, friendly, and helpful everyone was at the guesthouse as this was our first visit to Uganda. We will definitely return to this guesthouse and recommend it to others who are visiting Uganda.
Very nice place and friendly stuff. Unfortunatelly very loud music during the night from the neighbourhood. Close to the airport with offered transport for 10 USD.
Clean hotel, great staff, close to town and beach.
This is a guesthouse so it isn't fancy but the rooms are big and clean. There is hot water too. Breakfast is good. The staff is very helpful and polite. I felt very safe at African Roots.
Only had about 8 hours at the hotel before my flight but everything worked just as needed. Good shuttle service, good couple hours of sleep, and a couple of restaurants within walking distance.
We had a wonderful stay at the African Roots hotel. The staff were excellent and friendly and informative. They helped us with a dinner (of great local cuisine!!) and let us know of places to see and things to do in the town of Entebbe! I would stay there anytime and recommend this location to anyone!
African Roots Guesthouse is a quaint house. It's old, but it was fine for our needs. The staff was wonderful and did everything they could to accommodate our needs. The area was nice as it was close to the beach and a great pizza place on the water. It's not an area to walk around alone in or at night, but it was fine for two women strolling in the daytime.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Clean and very. Very friendly and convenien for the air port. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent guesthouse, efficiently run by the extremely jolly Anna and Stella in a blue-and-white former private house in a quiet, upmarket neighbourhood near Lake Victoria. There are verandas on both floors and an outdoor area where I cleaned my hiking boots and left stuff to dry. Our first room had three single beds and was OK but a little cramped and stuffy for the person in the end bed. The upstairs rooms are great; large, light and No 5 has a large, sunny balcony. Definitely recommend it.
On arrival I was given a very different room to the one booked, however I was charged the same rate and when I challenged the manager was informed that they had made the decision to help me!! The picture on hotel.com of the outside of the property is no longer how it looks, additional building works have taken away a lot of the original charm. I was genuinely disappointed .

Quiet n Small in Entebbe close to Victoria Mall
Easy Access to the Lake and Victoria mall, quiet small place shy of 10 rooms, but friendly with Van transport service
Have stayed here a few times now and still love it. The rooms are comfortable, very clean and with comfy beds and hot water, the food is delicious and the staff really friendly. A nice alternative to a hotel to unwind in before going back home.
Lovely to be collected and welcomed late at night, with good breakfast before my travel on to Kampala the next morning. Everyone is friendly and wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
We stayed one night in order to take a flight out the next day. Note that this is a guest house, not a hotel. The rooms were very comfortable (with ensuite bathrooms) and exceptionally clean, and Anna was so welcoming, even offered to accompany us if we wanted to walk to/from any of the nearby restaurants after dark. Definitely have the pineapple pancakes for breakfast; they are fabulous!
They can arrange visits to Ngamba Chimpanzee Island, which is a forested island in Lake Victoria (about an hour by boat) where the people are on a small tip and the rest is given over to chimps rescued from illegal trafficking. Really beautiful. (We stayed at African Roots after our Ngamba Island visit.)
It must be well sound-proofed. We saw a number of people come in while we were downstairs in the dining room, but never heard a peep all night.
