Sound good? Great! Take a look at lastminute.co.nz’s selection of cheap flights to Edinburgh and reserve your seat at the Round Table.
Getting Around Edinburgh
You’ll touch down in William Wallace-land at Edinburgh Airport (EDI), just 9km from the central business district. Take the Edinburgh Tram to the city centre, where you can hail a taxi to haul you to your Edinburgh accommodation. No need to worry about snagging a car; most of the big draws are located in the Old and New Town sections, which are only a 15-minute walk from each other.
When You Land…
If you’re on one of the Edinburgh flights that’s landing as the sun is rising, the first thing you should do is fill your belly with brekkie. Get over to the Grassmarket in the Old Town area and enjoy a plate of eggs, black pudding, tattie scones and a bowl of porridge in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.
Speaking of the historic fortress, spend the afternoon checking out the Crown Room, Mons Meg and St. Margaret’s Chapel. The latter has the best view of the city!
And if you’re exiting the plane as the sun begins to duck below the horizon, find your way to New Town and make new friends in the bars lining George Street. Good luck understanding those accents after you’ve had a few.
Live Like a Local
If you’re trying to blend in with the local population, book one of our Edinburgh holiday packages and spend time in the port district of Leith. Get rowdy with the hooligans at Easter Road Stadium as you watch Hibernian FC open up a can of whoop-bleepon their opponents. After the victory, continue the celebration at the King’s Wark, a traditional pub in one of the oldest buildings in the city. Pints and highball glasses galore.
Tell your boss you’ll let him know about that Johnson deal when you get back—you’ve got to go to Scotland first. Browse lastminute.co.nz’s incredibly great deals on flights to Edinburgh and see what’s in store for you in the “Athens of the North”.
