I recently booked a two-night stay at Comfort Inn in Watsonville, CA, hoping to enjoy a relaxing vacation by the beaches in Santa Cruz County. I booked through Expedia and opted to pay at the property. To my surprise, I received an alert from my bank about a charge from the hotel, which was declined due to suspected fraud. This was my first red flag.
Upon arrival, I was not greeted—by JAY, the front desk, and also the manager. He was incredibly rude and dismissive, failing to offer even basic courtesies. His attitude was appalling, and he seemed completely uninterested in addressing any of my questions.
The room was a nightmare. It was poorly cleaned, with hair in the shower and dust all over the air conditioning unit. The showerhead was broken, causing water to splash everywhere, making it nearly impossible to use. To make matters worse, I found a used condom wrapper by the bedside and under the bed. The overall cleanliness and maintenance were utterly unacceptable. Adding to the horror, there was a dead rat on the property grounds, which was disgusting and a clear health hazard. When I approached JAY to cancel one of the nights due to these numerous issues, he was unhelpful and dismissive. He refused to clean the bathroom, fix the shower, or address any of my concerns. His complete lack of customer service skills was astonishing. Based on this horrendous experience, I strongly advise against staying at Comfort Inn Watsonville, CA.
