The Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa, is experiencing a significant decline and feels much more like a faded “old grand dame” than a true luxury property—three stars at best. During a recent stay, the sheets, shower curtain, and towels all had visible blood droplets, suggesting the maid may have had a cut hand, raising serious concerns about housekeeping standards and hygiene. The bathroom tap was leaking, likely due to a worn seal that clearly needed a timely repair, and the room safe was never fixed despite reporting the issue. Breakfast at Zoe’s is good, but only if you arrive before 9:45am, as service stops strictly at 10am and staff are quick to deny late entries. For cocktail hour, there were no clean tables, and staff warned it would take 20-30 minutes to bus them, prompting a decision to take business across the street and resulting in the hotel losing at least $500 in revenue. The chandeliers and general decor show years of neglect, with little of the old grandeur remaining. Staff do their best, but it is evident that the hotel is quietly dying, no longer living up to its luxury reputation. Next visit, consider St. Germain instead—Fairmont Chateau Laurier is not currently worth the premium.

Beautiful vue on the Parliament for room on rideau canal side. Vehicles traffic on boulevard beside the hotel is noisy for room on street side. Parliament is under huge renovation, lots of cranes and scaffoldings, it's a pity for the view...

My stay at the Fairmont was amazing. The room was quite comfortable, the pool and work out areas were amazing, the coffee shop was delightful each morning and the grounds surrounding the hotel were spectacular. Th only down side is if you have to valet. It took me over an hour one day to get my car and the next day, the app said it would be 45 minutes but i did get it at about 30 minutes. Just be prepared to request it early.

The staff are excellent but especially Karl in Zoe's. He was exceptional for his service but also for his interactions with our granddaughter. Can't say enough good about that! Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Very smooth check in and receptionist was so helpful and attentive, helped us check in few hours earlier which is a great help. Facilities are not new but has everything, don't think they have any vanity kit. Bathroom shower space is so small, you might bump into the wall or shower door.

Amazing historic property right in the centre of Ottawa. The rooms were quite disappointing, rundown with peeling wallpaper, old, tired lamps and scuffed leather chairs. The hotel itself was amazing. However, the rooms were quite a letdown.
