What a fabulous hotel! When I first booked it I thought there would be nothing nearby or it would be a hassle to get into the city. I was wrong. The hotel is on a direct bus route from the airport, and it only took 10 minutes door to door, if that. You can also get into the city by walking around 100m to a tram stop where the 14 or 18 will take you there in around 20 minutes. The best thing was all public transport was free! Trams, buses, taxi boats and trains (within zone 10). So easy to get about!
The hotel itself was quirky, immaculate and bedrooms modern and well equipped. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on the quality. Staff were very friendly, spoke perfect English and nothing was any trouble.
The area looks quite new, but there is a Lidl round the corner and a couple of restaurants, but we didn’t try any of them. If you go one stop down on the tram there is a massive shopping centre with a Migros and a food court.
Be warned, Switzerland is not cheap, double prices in the UK for takeaway and restaurants. We found a shop called Manor in the city that sold excellent sandwiches/pastries and all manner of foods at a decent price so worth checking that out. The weather was fab so we bought food there and sat by the lake. Highly recommend a trip to Chamonix - only 90 minutes away and breathtaking.
If we ever returned, we’d stay here again, it was just what we needed. Loved it
