Bad, bad, bad all around. Very disappointed!
Before arriving, I had every intention to stay here-it looks like a great value from the photos posted online, but they were very misleading. Hotel Management: Please try to maintain the standards of the inviting rooms in the photos!! Upon my arrival, a male employee was fighting with/screaming at a guest who was arguing for a refund. I thought this was going to boil over, but the guest ended up leaving the hotel and cut his losses. No other employees seemed to care or bat an eye. Seeing this, I then asked to see my room before I checked in-I was shown two rooms on the first floor near the stairs. The first room smelled like a sewer and I was told that if I left the door open it would air out. I didn't want to take my chances. I asked to see a second room and was shown a room that had not been cleaned and had dirty linens as well as what looked like burn marks on the floor. The hotel told me they had no other rooms available apart from them, so I asked for a refund. The hotel refused despite having a different product on display on their hotels.com page and what is offered to guests in reality. I booked a nearby guesthouse on the fly and am glad I stayed there instead. The employees did not care that I wanted to leave, they just smiled and said I'd get no refund. I sincerely hope they change their attitude. Everyone else That I met in Penang was extremely kind and welcoming. I'd never stay at this hotel until both the management's attitude/rooms improve

Hotel location is great as some of the famous hawker stalls are right across the street. A few doors down there’s a cafe and a few convenient stores with ATM. Room was small but clean. Found a few weird stains on the sheets. Bathroom was clean and the showers worked fine but there’s an issue with the toilet so we had to manually turn on and off the water to flush. Check in wasn’t very smooth. The staff wasn’t clear on the payment amount nor whether it had been made. Wanted to pay with card but they didn’t charge the card reader machine & kept asking if we could pay cash. Overall staff’s attitude was friendly. Ended up paying the next day when the card reader is charged.
