Ocean Villas is a simple family budget hotel and, as such, provides good value for money. The initial welcome was a little cool, but the front desk got warmer, and a few issues we had with the room were solved well and fairly promptly. We were early and our room was not ready, but it was ready right at the official check-in time. The front desk was flexible and helpful with a late check out time. The complex has a tired feel to it and is in need of some TLC - a roof scrub and bit of whitewash on all the outside walls would help the external appeal greatly. Our room, billed as renovated/contemporary, was nice but a bit tired - quite spacious and with a good-sized bathroom. The hotel has natural, simple, well-kept gardens and it lies directly on a very pleasant small and quite private beach with great views of the Bay and with some water-based activities. We had the evening buffet several times, and they were all very good - reasonably wide choice, well cooked, varied and tasty. The breakfast buffet was also varied and decent. Our one a la carte evening was disappointing, the food mediocre and the service slow (no desserts delivered to anyone until the entire restaurant had finished the main course). The evening entertainment was not always to our taste, but it was nice to have it provided and the guests seemed to enjoy it. The piped music during the day was good (lots of well-known international songs, locally recorded and to a fine reggae rhythm.
