This is a stunning hotel dating back to 1200. Well kept with a lot of activity nearby. Stairs may be a challenge for older people. We stayed here 1 night.
Check in time is 4.00pm, which seems rather late. We arrived around 3.00pm, our room was ready but had to pay £10 for early check in, ridiculous!! Room was Dusty, shower head needed attention, bathroom blind bent and very dusty, basin had a very large crack - unhygienic! We had to change rooms as a problem with the plumbing. Second room, television had no signal, sink draining away slowly obviously blocked. Shower head not working properly, old chewing gum pack under window. This hotel could much be better, with a bit more care and attention.

Nice hotel, staff were friendly. Outside area lovely. Lunch lovely, dinner ok. Breakfast wasn’t that good, laced in pepper and no fruit and £18!!!
We were very happy with our one night at stay, booked at the last minute. The hotel is exceptionally good value for money. It is a very interesting historic building, right in the centre of Grantham. The staff could not have been more helpful, the cocktails were fantastic, and breakfast was well worth the extra charge. There is also a huge car park at the rear. we definitely recommend it!
I liked the room I was given which was superficially very luxurious. However, the bed and pillows did feel/smell a bit weary. No bedroom view and very noisy equipment outside. The main rooms are lovely and the staff exceptionally helpful.
Within walking difference to everything and convenient for restaurants and pubs. Hotel lack a bit of attention to detail. Dust on dado rail, missing light bulbs in bathroom only I small bottle of water in a double room and tv signal not good. Also on the Saturday when we arrived there was a bbq with loud music in the courtyard that went on till the evening. A nice historic hotel but could be better.
This is a super hotel in the heart of Grantham. Having flown in from the US and wanting an early check in, I was told no rooms were ready. When pressed, receptionist said I could pay $10 an hour for early check and hey presto a room was suddenly available... I found this very disappointing and distasteful customer experience.
