My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights. Check-in was smooth and we were given a room downstairs (29). When we got back on the first evening at approximately midnight it became clear very quickly that the walls were extremely thin with little to no sound-proofing as we could hear the people and tv of the room next door very clearly. They weren’t talking excessively loud, just the walls were way too thin. We reported this to the night porter but were told there were ‘no more rooms’. A few minutes later he knocked on our door and told my partner and I that he had spoken to his manager and we could move to a Premier Room which should be less noisy. We appreciated this gesture and the room was indeed quieter although now with slight noise from the main road.
Overall, the room was nice but the bed wasn’t comfortable. It had a large strange lump in the middle of a very soft mattress and sagged on each side. Not our best night sleep each evening. Also, very bright come 6am as the blind lets in a lot of light even when fully extended.
We had breakfast each morning, each time I went for a plate there were little dark marks on them. Apart from this small point the food itself was absolutely delicious with a nice wee selection of cooked breakfast items as well as continental offerings.
Everyone that we dealt with at the hotel was friendly, but given the price we paid and the issues my partner and I encountered, it wasn’t worth what we paid and wouldn’t choose to stay again.
