I had booked a villa online through Expedia. The reservation went through and they charged my card, so I assumed it was confirmed. The morning we were leaving for Guanaja I emailed them about providing us an airport shuttle. They claimed they did not have our reservation on record! Someone at the hotel made a mistake somewhere, and instead of accommodating us to another villa (which they said they had available at first, but then all of a sudden they were all "under maintenance") they said they just couldn't take us. Once they said they could not accommodate us, they stopped answering my calls and Expedia's calls. So we arrived at the airport in Guanaja with no one to pick us up, no place to stay, and out the money that they had already charged me.
Luckily, the wonderful people at Graham's Place came to pick us up and let us stay there. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise; the place was beachfront, cheaper, and the staff was so nice and accommodating. The most ridiculously stressful start to a vacation ever thanks to the terrible customer service of La Giralda.
