Great for Travelers without Cars
We visited Guimaraes during the off-season and enjoyed our stay at the Ibis in city center. It was conveniently located near the Shopping Center, Mercado, and historic old town with easy walking areas nearby. They accommodated our dog for $15/night, though we couldn't leave her unattended and she was not allowed in most of the lobby area. There were five hotel parking spots in front of the building, one for handicap parking and one for electric charging. Paid street parking was also nearby, you just had to be careful with timing. The hotel was convenient for people traveling by bus but a little difficult to find street parking and I can imagine that in the summer it would be even more of a challenge.

Great location, not far from main attractions
Great location if you are traveling by car as it is not far from the main attractions and you can avoid the traffic and find a parking space easily. The hotel is basic but comfortable. Great if you are planing just to sleep there while exploring Guimarães.

Ibis Guimeras is so well located you can reach to and from airport by bus as bus station is just 100 mts away.Also location is so convenient for restaurants, to walk around etc.

A fresh coat of painting will be good .
In terms of location,staff and comfort this hotel is brilliant.The walls need a coat of painting as they look tired and not fresh with dirty spots especially above lighting ,air conditioner exhaust.

Great little hotel. Very simple, and small, but really clean and friendly! it is a budget hotel, after all, but the location is great to walk to most places in the center. (Just skip the breakfast; it is overpriced).

Check in was great, told me about a nearby shopping centre and the walk to the old town and castle complex (about 20-25 mins and quite steep at points) lots of little tourist shops and cafes to stop at along the way.

For a budget vacation this hotel is perfect. It is centrally located to the historic center ( easy walk for most folks in most weather), perfect price and all the basic amenities that could be asked for (clean room, quiet and good water pressure).

Perfect for business needs - free wi-fi, clean and comfortable rooms, great service from reception. Breakfast was ample but could be varied - no change in the 5 days I stayed. Very close to a mall for easy access for last minute needs and meals.

Arrived for business, and hotel provided everything I needed: good clean room, good wi-fi connection, good location. Adjacent mall was an added plus for any last-minute needs and just to unwind. Breakfast was ample and good but not much variety in the five days I was there.

This Charming Man-ager
The hotel is a little walk from the main town but not so far as to make it un-walkable. Parking outside the hotel is limited so either arrive earlier or park nearby (there is free roadside parking very close). Don't miss the hotel though otherwise Guimaraes complex one-way system will keep you driving about more than you would like. Good hotel with good wifi, comfy rooms and excellent range of breakfast (though this was extra but worth the extra 6 euros each for what was more banquet than breakfast!). And the chap on reception was very helpful, whilst we did not need it but reassuring that help was on hand if needed.
