We had two rooms, weekday, for 3 nights, we arrived at 11:30AM and before even greeting us the agent told us checkin wasn’t until 4PM but for a fee she could check us in early. Clearly they had rooms for us, but that’s ok we understand; but her way of approaching us wasn’t nice and the only hotel from a long trip around Portugal that did this to us. We stored out bags and moved on. Later, after we checked in they called us from the front desk asking for payment because they forgot, so we went back to pay. I asked about some wineries recommendations or tours and they told me (3 agents were there) they didn’t have any information. The room was horrible. Mattress was thin about 4 fingers thick on top of a mattress box spring , very uncomfortable. Our room smelt like cigarettes and the window didn’t close well so during the day we had the smell from food cooked in the restaurant below since their vent was just outside of our window. The room was old and not well maintained full of patches on the wall and stains on the carpet. The soap was of poor quality and towels old falling apart. This hotel is not even a 2 star, I’d not recommend it, they are worried about making money with early check ins but don’t care about their rooms or training employees to be caring towards their guests.
