Our room was decades past renovation date with wall paper dating from the 70’s. There was a line of dirt/dust on the floor around the walls and fittings where the vacuum cleaner hadn’t reached. The door handle with swiped card reader was loose as was the knob on the wardrobe and appeared to have been this way for years. The room smelt a little damp but the a/c was quiet and worked well. Bathroom was clean though mould around the shower and the silicone was leaking enough for a large puddle to form quickly. Water pressure was good and water hot. The restaurant had a good selection for both dinner and breakfast, but the general ambience of the facility was run down and neglected. Staff were all nice.

Stayed here in Jan 2025 as needed central location to visit the glow worm caves and Hobbiton. The hotel is very tired looking and hence the mid score. The breakfast was ok, good choice but not great quality buffet style.

The property was a mix of old and new. The interiors were well appointed but it is a older building that is maintained well. Parking was a challenge since we did not have reserved parking ahead of time. Location is excellent and close to lots of restaurants and amenities. The riverfront walk is within a couple of minutes of the hotel and is a treat.

No house keeping on 2nd Jan: room requires refurbishing out of t/paper &liquid soap, main door would not lock.Shame this Hotel lacked the service.For a Remarda Hotel this is not 4Star! The nice part was a large room & reasonably quiet. NZ is a Tourist country so Remarda live up to your standard that we expect!

The hotel rooms we were in were clean and spacious, however everything was worn and in average condition. Given this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, the amenities were more like a 3 star. Our 1st room had a faulty door lock and the staff were slow to resolve it (moving rooms) but it did get sorted. Give the issues we had I was surprised that the manager was no where to be seen and left the front desk staff to fix everything. Also, the gym is in severe need on maintenance!

Terrible room. Hard mattress, tiny bathroom about .5 wide x 1.5 long including shower. Horrible window out to ugly drive. No powerpoints by beds. Also had access to reserved carpark blocked for 30 minutes on arrival by laundry van. No amenities.
